Yes they would accept, there should be in the bottom right to the label something like Post by and a date as long as its by that date, then If someone took them to the post office and get the Proofs of postage eg get them scanned in then it should activate the parcels in the system for you, quite important if you will if a tracked item.

Collections are free.  Since you have the postage you can just book a collection putting in the tracking or reference number - the booking page will show you what info it needs.

If I rebook wouldn’t I have to pay again?

oh, and yes, they were specified to be collected today.
I don’t pay for collections? If you mean re buy the label then no, just use the book collection option on RM and use the numbers from the original labels.

Thank you everyone for your help.

late last night I received an email saying collection had failed.

My neighbour took them to the post office for me.

such a lot of faff for a couple of £5 sales.

Yes, very annoying when things don't go smoothly as they should.  Thankfully it doesn't happen often.  In the 2 years I have been using this service, 4 times things haven't gone as planned.  As it happens, I had one collection today.  Post man came with the label but he said it wasn't showing on his PDA so I will not get any notifications that it has been collected or delivered!  He took the parcel anyway.  Now it is a question of wait and see what happens.

If you've paid for a parcel with any form of tracking on when it gets to the first sorting office it usually gets scanned so it can be sent on it's way, that should show up on your tracking.

Most of my trackings show "An update will only be provided when we attempt to deliver your item" - even after 3 weeks!

I’ve just had a look at the Royal Mail website and you may very well be correct, if you use Signed For 1st & 2nd Class it looks like there is only a Signature on delivery.
I usually send my parcels by Tracked 24 & 48, they are fully tracked but no signature on delivery, usually I get a very nice photo of a letter box or front door, on the odd occasion parcels don’t get scanned on delivery but up to now that’s never been a problem for me.

I think that depends on service chosen?  Happen to have sent two packages today, one Tracked 48, one standard 2nd class parcel.
Checking tonight the T48 says we have it, 2nd class parcel says this is untracked, we will only provide an update when we attempt to deliver (as quoted above)

Signed for is definitely not worth it now.  At one time it gave a compensation of £50 rather than the normal £20.  Now it is also £20 and more expensive than the equivalent RM24 or 48 service that has £150 compensation.
Despite being called signed for, since covid I don't think that signatures are obtained on any service.
