Royal Mail Collect

After having problems with EVRI collect service I decided to try The Royal Mail Collect option (I’m disabled so find it difficult to go out) but they haven’t collected.  I have confirmation emails and typed my own labels. Do you think they will collect tomorrow, if not, then what?

Annoyingly I had a Royal Mail parcel left on my doorstep this morning but they didn’t take my two parcels, they just left my parcel on top of the two that were ready to go.

i despair, I really do.

Generally the will only collect the following day from the booking, so if you booked it this morning for example they wouldn't collect until tomorrow morning.

As long as you have the parcel with the service on it - you have to print the label RM provide (or are you asking RM to provide the labels? as the reference numbers usually tie up the collection requests.

In which case they should have collected today. I wasn't sure from your original post, hence my comment.

If you can catch the postie when they next come (hopefully tomorrow) they might be able to tell you what happened - we've had it once where it just didn't come up as a job for them that morning.  But usually it's been reliable for us.

Just to double check, you booked the collection yesterday - was the collection date definitely today's?  (I'm not doubting you in any way, literally just asking in order to rule out the simplest scenario.)

It might turn out that you need to book a collection again, but see what tomorrow brings first.

When I’ve had a failed collection I’ve always had to completely re book it.

Helpful to know, I couldn't remember what happened with mine.

As Soolin said, you have to rebook it otherwise they will not collect. From my experience they send you an email in the evening when they fail to collect "sorry we were unable to collect .....please rebook for another day.  Till then I did not have the option of rebooking.  Once they did not send me that email and I could not rebook the collection which was a pain.  That was a year ago.  I hope they have changed things to make it easy to rebook.

I’ve had no email from them to say rebook.

if I could get someone to take the parcels to a post office would they accept them over the counter?

Yes they would accept the parcel over the counter.
I’ve used the collect service a lot over the last couple of years and only once have been disappointed, the postie called in and told me that the printer had broken at the delivery office, so I had to print off a label and took the parcel to the post office.
I usually ask them to bring a label, just on the assumption that it might remind them to call.
