  • I certainly would do exactly as others have said- defrost, rinse and inspect as ever and then cook thoroughly.

Make something really tasty though, the freezer burn might make it a bit dry/bland but it won't damage you.

I have a whole host of joints of meat in my freezer (cooked leftovers from previous Sunday dinners), I have no idea how long they have been there. We just a roast beef out of it today which looked very frosted but tasted lovely and was even quite tender.

If you're unsure as to how edible it is, make sure you only eat it piping hot, i.e. dont use it for sarnies tomorrow, reheat it thoroughly for a pasta bake.

I'd eat it, too. However, I wouldn't advise rinsing whole birds. There was a BBC news story last month about how this moves bacteria from the bird's cavity into the flesh, which leads to more food poisoning than less.

Pink - you've made me :rotfl: :rotfl: today :kisses3:

Penny, I read that story too!

They never learned how to do it from my mum:rotfl: Thoroughly wash the whole turkey, getting your fingers deep into the cavity to dislodge all blood clots. Then dry using kitchen roll. Now comes the best bit....... use nigh on a whole bottle of bleach to disinfect the entire kitchen..... taps, sink, work surface, parts that couldn't possibly have been contaminated.....:D Then incinerate your turkey and Bob's your uncle;)

I did this until relatively recently, when one year I just couldn't be bothered. Surprise, surprise, we didn't die:D
