Tesco and premium numbers charges

I have I have recently been charged £2.50 in respect of a Premium Text I am supposed to have received. I checked my texts received on the date in question and I can find no text from the number involved (0890 80118). I also checked my incoming calls list and I did not receive a call from that number on that date.
I contacted Tesco and they could give me no information about the call or the caller. Their only advice going forward was to set up a Premium Calls bar, which is fine but that would mean I will be prevented dialling premium numbers for competitions such as those on ITV.
Does anyone know is a selective Premium Call bar can be set up with Tesco which excludes certain numbers?

Pretty sure all those TV text things usually have an alternative method to enter via a website.

Don't know about Tesco Mobile specifically but my provider has separate bars for premium SMS and premium calls.

Well I hope you've hassled Tesco for a refund. If it's not a service you've agreed to or signed up to, they shouldn't get away with charging you and should block the number BUT AFAIK and can check, it's not even a valid number, the 0890 code doesn't exist, it's a fake/forged CLID. Report it as well and I think I'd threaten O2 with the Ombudsman if they don't help with the issue, and refund you.

Numbers starting 0890 plus a further SIX digits were premium rate numbers in the UK way back in the 1990s.

This number range was migrated to one of the various new 090XX number ranges in the Big Number Change of 28 April 2001.
