£20.00 Fuel for the car to get to work
Tesco food shopping aswell today, came in at £37.80 but i did spend £7 on a few birthday gifts for my nephews birthday at the weekend. i will also be taking £20 out of my savings account before Saturday to put in a card for his birthday. i will account for this on the day i get chance to go to the cash point to withdraw the money.
Debt payments
I have checked my Hastings payments tonight and i did indeed make an extra payment of £1.65 yesterday, so today rather than make a payment for 1p, i wont make a payment as i made double yesterday, i will simply make tomorrows payment with an added 1p to make todays figure the correct one. so it will be as follows:
Yesterday £1.65 + £1.65
Today £0
Tomorrow £1.68
Thurs £1.68
Fri £1.69
Total £8.35
which works out the same as it should be:
Yesterday £1.65
Today £1.66
Tomorrow £1.67
Thurs £1.68
Fri £1.69
Total £8.35
So i will count it as being paid as follows :
Hastings loan daily payment : £1.66 (Total paid so far this month* £8.20) - leaving a final payment of £42.23 in August 2027 (30 monthly payments) = Balance outstanding now £2260.06

I used to think that using 75% of my £1000 overdraft meant I had £250 in the bank, rather than a £750 debt.
Getting in debt, and getting out of debt, are two very different mindsets.2 -
I forgot to mention. Ive now done dry January and February helping me to save money and pay more money off my debts than i would have be able to. I'm hoping to keep this going until my debts are paid and i can celebrate with a nice cold beer or 2 when its all over

When i was a kid and i heard the cashier ask people paying with a bank card if they wanted "cash back" with their shopping, i thought they were giving people free money and wondered why more people dont ask for more money?Debts on Jan 6th 2025

When I first started work (8.5k a year before tax, full time!) the shop near where I worked used to cash cheques, which would then take 3 working days to hit my account. When the money ran out long before the month, I’d go in and cash a cheque for £10, even though I knew I had no funds to cover it. Two days later, I’d go back to the shop and cash another cheque for £20, take £10 of that and pay in into my bank over the counter, which would cover the earlier cheque before it hit my account. And two days after that, I’d cash a cheque for £30….etc.
Of course, when payday came, I already owed half of it to the bank. Meaning I was short for the next month.
Basically, I used payday loans long before it was fashionable, pitfalls and all!3 -

I have managed to get to the cash point today and withdraw the £20 cash for my nephews birthday card at the weekend. So as its a one off expense i use my savings/emergency account for any payments like this. So i have transferred the £20 back to my current account from my savings. Leaving me a balance of £404.50 in my savings.
Debt payments
As discussed yesterday, i have made a £1.68 payment today to make up for the 1p less overpayment i accidently made the other day, but record it as the £1.67 payment i should be making today. Then hopefully we will be all back on track and back to normal.
