old broadband equipment from Vodafone

I have moved from Vodafone to Community Fibre. Am I obligated to return the old broadband equipment to Vodafone ? Also could I not just drop the equipment off at a Vodafone shop, at my own leisure without incurring a penalty?  Thanks

If they want it back they normally send you a pre paid envelope thing, was this mentioned?

They never provided a pre paid envelope but in the generic email I got at the end they said I could either print a stamp or drop it off at a Vodafone store. My worry is that there is a finite amount of time they give you before you incur a penalty. The 30th of December was when I left Vodafone.

AFAIK you own the VF router after you been a customer for over a month - I've still got mine and we left them around a year ago. BT wanted theirs back and sent a bag to post it in when we left them several years ago.(I dont use it, but the Power supply unit is usefully employed running the LED lights in my wife's doll house)

You really need to check your T&C's as they do change quite frequently and the ones that apply to you may not be the ones that applied to me as they can depend on when you started your contract (BT for instance changed their T&C's around three time in one year a while back)

If you do need to send it back then make sure you get a proof of posting and keep it for a long time - It took BT the best part of five months and several threatening reminders before they finally acknowledged receipt of the one I sent back.

Usually if they want the kit back they will assign a value to that kit in their communications. If you fail to return it they have the right to charge you that amount. If the value is zero, they won't charge you if you don't return it, but they have an oblication for you to be able to return the kit to them, so they will send an envelope / label and return info anyway.

Companies have a requirement to ensure that old equipment is recyled and most likely will have quotas to meet, if you do not hear from them I would drop it off at the Vodafone shop when it suits you.

When Vodafone failed to connect me to broadband I was left with their router.

Took it to my local Vodafone shop who said they didn't want it - I dumped the carrier on their counter and legged it.
