The op is saying chicken & soy mixed to try and pass of as 100% chicken which just sounds very odd and somewhat far fetched x
I can honestly say that I have never had a curry and had to doubt whether it was chicken, most people know that velvetised meat has a different texture, I velvetise at home. But it’s always been 100% chicken.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. This is why, on the rare occasions that we eat out, we go for a veggie option.1

Quorn have been selling dishes that are a blend of Quorn and real chicken for people who want to cut down their meat consumption, but not give it up entirely.1

Even if Quorn were doing such a thing, it still wouldn't be legal (I'm assuming) for an outlet to list it as 'chicken' or imply that it was.
Would such a Frankenstein foodstuff even be cheaper than standard chicken anyway (which is the reason I'd assume unscrupulous outlets would try to palm it off as chicken).

Ok there may be some doubts about whether reconstituted chicken contains soy or not but one we can't get away from is that is definately contains glue (microbial transglutaminase, MTG) which some of us would like to avoid as it causes leaky-gut issues.

You're probably just confusing velveted meat or meat treated with baking soda, because it has a different texture to chicken you might cook at home.
