Morning all, glad you're a bit better Gers, and hope this applies to all the poodles. We have some quite deep snow, pooch enjoyed snuffling around and messing up the pristine view across the road ( sorry your bigdog couldn't @remmie .It's fairly soft atm but still coming down. The local news is saying some local roads are blocked - I did see traffic coming along the main road, but very slowly.I have got some chicken breast with lemon & chilli out for tea, and bought a trifle for the menfolk too.Lat night DH & I watched 3 episodes of Black Doves on apple tv & really enjoyed it - I got a 4 month free subscription in Dec. when we bought his new lappie from currys, but then saw there are several series, hope we manage them allNothing else of not so stay safe and warm everyone:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all from soggy Mehefinland
Well we must gave been borderline snow alert as at 9 last night when I went to check on the girls it was a bit sleety with slush underfoot, and when I got back the heavens opened and it poured with rain all night. The gutters were overflowing! This morning everything is soggy and the field looks like a swamp. I put the stablerugs on the two biggys last night for the first time this winter and they were snug. Don't think they were over fussed on going out this morning but it was only a bit of drizzle at 8ish ( had a little lie in!!) Now as I type it is hammering down again so I expect they will be wanting to come back in to the dry. They can have an hour or so to stretch their legs, 2 have rugs on, and the little one doesn't need one.
Friends of mine flew back into Cardiff airport at 1100 last night after a two week cruise in the Canaries - bet that was a shock to the system!
Not much else going on today - just the ongoing sorting and decluttering. Gradually working my way through some of Dawn's stuff - gosh what a lot of handbags and scarves!!
Cwtches to the poodles and the bereaved
Hugs and spoons as always
Keep safe in this horrible weather

Morning all thanks to @Gers for the start. I hope you feel brighter soon x
Just a dusting of snow for us which is now gone apart from a line under the cars. Set to rain all day I believe. We have a rolled pork joint and veggies for dinner today so we don’t need to go anywhere. DD is taking DS2 to work for 4pm and picking him up at midnight as his MOT has expired and he can’t get an appointment until 8 Jan. It’s now 50 mins each way so he will pay DDs fuel costs.Stay safe everyone and keep warm x

Morning all. As forecast, snow arrived here last night at about 8 pm. It soon started to settle and it looks fairly deep now (maybe 6-8") and it's still snowing but I'm not venturing out to find out how deep! It doesn't look as if our road has been gritted and I've seen very few people out and about. It looks very pretty, a real Winter Wonderland, but I'm happy to admire it from indoors.
I'm running a bit short of fresh milk but have a couple of cartons of long life and dried in reserve. I've also filled a flask with hot water just in case of a power cut - can't be doing without a cuppa!
Yesterday I made the chicken curry and had some for tea with naans and have frozen the rest for another day. I also made spiced parsnip & potato soup, enough for 3 or 4 lunches. I took the Xmas decorations down apart from the fairy lights that I kept up for one more night but they'll be packed away too this afternoon.
Today I'll make a list of phone calls and/or emails that I need to do this week; the Sadmin seems to have ground to a halt and it could do with a bit of a nudge. Other than that, nothing in particular planned.
Stay safe and warm all and enjoy what's left of the weekend. Now the festivities are well and truly over it should start to feel a bit more "normal"! XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all. We woke up to a light fall of snow but now it's started to rain so that will be gone soon.
Had a lovely day here yesterday with all the family; think I've recovered now! DH is now the proud owner of an air fryer(!) so last night we moved the microwave into the utility and put the air fryer on the worktop in the kitchen. That then led to a bout of sorting out in various cupboards and drawers and I now have a lot of kitchen stuff to take to a charity shop. Lunch today will be left over curry from yesterday. The chick pea one was a big hit and DS took the recipe back with them. I'll take that as a compliment as his fiancee's parents are from Sri Lanka so eat a lot of curry.
I've frozen a couple of slices of the chocolate truffle torte so we can enjoy that later in the month.
Today we need to take down the Christmas cards. They hang down on ribbons above the mantelpiece so, once they're down, we can just sit and remove the blu tack. I need to do the ironing and DH is going to look at the ceiling light in the bedroom, as that seems to have packed up. Later on I'll be watching the rugby and not moving from the sofa.
Hope everyone is keeping warm and dry. Hugs to the poodles and anyone else who'd like one.13 -
Your comment about the large number of scarves brought a smile to my face @Mehfin - my beloved late DM had two drawers full of them, mainly use only the favourite four or five but would never get rid of any of the others. And @Izzy - you made me laugh at defrosting your dog's ears. The snow tales sound awful, we have largely escaped the worst of it so far. Today, I feel a lot better so have cleared the kitchen of the kitchen detritus which I had ignored since Friday and set the DW off. I may take away the black bag of rubbish shortly as it's got chicken bones and so on in it and will start to smell soon. For now I'm watching The Arsenal Stadium Mystery, a film from 1939!Keep warm everyone.

Good morning all
Thank you for the start @Gers
Yesterday started very cold with frost, last night and this morning we have torrential rain but it seems a bit warmer.
Eating better didn't last long, had a bowl of porridge last night. I know I must do better so I got two chicken breast fillets out of the freezer. One for today and the other tomorrow. I've plenty of veg that needs to be eaten.
Stay safe and warm
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.11 -
