Gas to Induction Hob Users - A Good Choice?

Has anyone gone from gas to an induction hob?
Why did you and would you say it's worth it?

Niece grew up with gas, and eventually bought a place of her own. It was an ex-rental and had one of those nasty Lamona electric hobs that landlords love to fit. Got her an induction hob and fitted it within days of her moving in.
She loves it. Just as controllable as gas and much easier to keep clean.

We did, as part and parcel of having a new kitchen fitted.

I find the induction just as controllable as the gas. The hob is easier to keep clean. It looks more 'presentable' on an island imho.

Changed to an induction hob about 6 years ago.  They are more precise than gas and easier to keep clean.  Wouldn't dream of going back.

    Kind Regards,

I have induction, after having gas, then ceramic. I love it! Just as controllable as gas, SO easy to keep clean - spills don’t burn on - always looks tidy. I use mine (carefully) as an extra worktop space if I’m doing something that needs a lot of prep. Incidentally I have a pacemaker and it doesn’t cause me any problems, although I don’t crouch over it!

Previously always had a gas hob but moved 8 months ago and the new house has an induction hob, and I absolutely love it, just as controllable as gas but faster to heat up. Only snag was having to buy some new pans.

One downside - Copper, aluminium, and glass pans don't work unless they have a steel/iron core in the base. You may need to buy new pans like I had to.

Just as a matter of interest - what is it about induction that you dislike so much?

I've rented numerous cottages with induction hobs and never got on with them.  The controls are always too small and confusing and they just aren't as controllable as a gas burner tap with infinate adjustment between min and max.

The particular hob I have has touch controls rather than rotary, which I dislike intensely.

There is no flame for me to use when wishing to burn off the skin on peppers, for example.

    Having to buy specific cookware.

It is a joy to clean though.
