Hi, purchased a halfords bike that still within its 30 days of purchase. The bike handle is longer than normal and stll getting the hang off. But smash the bike lever for the bikes.

I foolishly thought it was insured, but it was the cycle plan. So they are saying it will cost me £50 to fix.

I'm i able to get fixed somehow, without spending on repairs coz it was just Christmas and this bike was costly on the budget?

Don't mind returning it and purchasing a Rockrider AM 100 from decathlon, but does it have a life warranty for damaged parts like this? Thought i check!

Kinds regards, Nkotko

As you have damaged the bike, and don’t have insurance then you will need to pay for the repairs.  Not sure who else you think would pay for it.

Warranties cover defects, not damage that you do.  If you want your bike fixed then you will need to pay.  In future you may want to consider buying insurance which covers you for accidental damage to your bike.

You won't be able to return it for a refund if you've damaged it. Regardless, Decathlon warranty won't cover user damage anyway.

Can you fix it yourself, buying a new brake lever from somewhere?  Learning some cycle maintenance will save you quite a bit of money in the long run, and there are loads of instructional videos on youtube.

I presume you mean you have broken one of the brake levers. If Halfords are charging £50 to replace it I would think you are probable talking about £10 for the lever and £40 labour. It is a fairly simple DIY job so if you are not up to it yourself hopefully a bike riding friend can help you out.

Or ... is there a local Bike Hub near you, where volunteers will help with repairs (maybe for a donation to a local charity)?

I could but it hydraulic brakes, so it needs a technician person to do it

They said £50 for the lever, labour was not discussed
