Thanks SL, that's really useful information to know. I definitely want to do this in the future. We need to get Mr MV's knee sorted though - cycling (even briefly on my e-bike) puffs it right up. Health is a focus for him this year because it feels like he's falling apart currently! I assume the hotels are geared for cycle visitors and provide secure parking and maybe even charging facilities?

@themadvix - oh dear - what a faff in regard to the exchange rate! - would you consider using transferwise for the pay deposits instead of your bank? They have favourable exchange rates and when I do GBP to CAD transfers, I wait until they send me the threshold exchange rate before transferring it to across the pond! I know the rate may never be 2.2 again, but I'll settle for 1.8 or higher even if it's just pennies.
Sorry to hear your pay was delayed again - I know she's your friend - but that is so not on! I'd be livid in your shoes, but it is such a hard one to navigate when it's a friend. Would she take offence if you called her up on signing day to remind her? My manager takes her sweet time to approve leave requests but if I stand over her shoulder she does it right away!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Morning all,Well I had a lovely birthday yesterday - Mr MV took me to Aldeburgh for the night on Monday, so we had all day there yesterday. Stayed in a lovely hotel (the Brudenelle), where we had a very tasty dinner and breakfast with sea views. The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. We wandered around Aldeburgh in the morning (Mr MV treated me to a dress and a top in the Weird Fish sale) and we went to Minsmere in the afternoon for a walk, before heading home via a pub for dinner (very reasonable - £38 for two mains, two drinks and a pudding!).Back to work today as definitely balancing a variety of different projects now. Meeting with reports boss at Cambridge has been pushed back to next week, so cracking on with SE work. Have paid my tax bill, due at end of Jan.MS things:
* PA survey
* RM survey items posted
* 1P surveys up to date
* YG 25 point survey done yesterday (I'm close to payout, so would really like to get that money in soon)
* Dinner tonight will be chilli from the freezer with pasta (perhaps the pre-cooked stuff from the freezer too)
* RHS seeds have arrivedGratitudes:
* Some lovely birthday messages and cards
* A wonderful, relaxing break with Mr MV - it felt far restorative than our break in Norfolk - I think perhaps just because we weren't still in the thick of Christmas
* A sea view with breakfast (Mr MV is too MSE to pay out for a sea view room, especially as it was dark most of the time we were there and awake!)Have a lovely day everyone!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
