Single platform beds that leave no gap when pushed together?

Hello everyone,

This is a bit of an odd request I guess but I'll give it a shot.
I’m looking for two single wooden platform bed frames.
Something like this which unfortunately is out of stock: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zinus-Moiz-Single-Bed-frame/dp/B088X4X5WZ?ie=UTF8&th=1

The plan is to have the beds next to each other, so as a double king bed (roughly 180x190 cm) about 70% of the time, and as two separate singles the remaining 30% of the time when I have family visiting.

Ideally, they need to be sturdy and should not have a headboard or footboard to allow for flexible arrangements. Essentially I don't want the legs to stick out of the bed frame edge as this could create an unwanted gap between the mattresses when used as a double. The headboard would likely stick out as well so that's why I'd prefer a model with no headboard.

Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks

In general these types of bed always have a gap /ridge as there's two bases and two separate mattresses (no matter how well pushed together) - they're not quite like sleeping in an actual double.

I also find (personally) no headboard to be a bit annoying - but as it will be a guest bed arrangement, it's usually ok.

    Must it be wooden frame?

Divan beds would seem to fit the criteria you described.

Split divan base with zip together  mattresses would be the best solution

You can always cut the headboard off if you really dont want it.

All of them are going to be circa 92cm wide whereas a single mattress is 90cm so you're going to have to move the mattress to close the gap.

Ideally you'd have a zip/link mattress so when together the mattresses are connected and reduces the risk of spreading causing a gap in the middle.

Thank you. I'll look into the zip and link option.
They do seem expensive though compared with getting two single wooden bed frames.
Can anyone recommend a store for the zip and links?

Not a recommendation because I've never used them but HotelContractBeds seem to be much cheaper for zip mattresses than anyone else, they seem ok on TrustPilot but cannot comment for their quality or durability. Will somewhat depend on if this is just an occasional sleeper or something thats going to be used regularly

I worked in a hotel for a while. If we didn't have a double available, the maids would tie two single bedframes together. Would this work for you?

Anything non-mainstream is going to be expensive.

You would be able to get bed connecting brackets for under a tenner and when the beds are together should be unnoticeable, brass finish would be best option.
I think on the continent that arrangement is known as Austrian Beds.

Even if you link the bases, the matresses can separate, and be uncomfortable. With Zip and Link matresses, you could probably get away without linking the bases: (but it's better if you do, even just with a ribbon).

Our Super King size bed is basically two single divans with a big mattress over the top, otherwise it wouldn't fit in the house. We looked at zip link for the guest room and the price is bonkers. We haven't found any at a price we are willing to pay. To be fair, having two single beds pushed together with 2 separate mattresses is often a good idea if one person is slightly bigger than the other - prevents unintended rolling together. I think we'll end up with 2 divan types though if we can get at an affordable price.
