Outside is still pitch black and 0°. Mind you the forecast for the coming week is showing temperatures of -4° most days.Despite the awful rain and wind earlier yesterday morning the afternoon turned out to be dry, the sun even made an appearance for the first time in about ten days. I had to half close the living room blind against the sun. I stripped the chicken, a job I really dislike, portioned up the flesh and made stock from the carcass. That was probably the limit of my activity ☹️ though I did do my exercises intermittently through the day.@TA - please take things easy, you've been really ill and now need to gather your strength again. Sorry, I need to read back yesterday's thread, but I'm sending out hugs to all. We've come through the festivities, with or without others, and can do much this year.12

Morning allThanks for starting us off GersStill in bed here. Feels a lot chillier this morning. It's just getting light and the sky looks clear so that explains the drop in temperture! At least that wind has dropped.Nothing planned today except having a hoover round and cleaning the bathroom and downstairs loo. Such an exciting life to lead this New Year!DH is back at work today so have the house and the remote control to myself.Hope everyone has a good day x14

Morning! Hard frost this morning, just jad to move the car with a minimum of being able to see where I'd scraped. Electrician, builder and tiler coming today with an appointment with the heart bloke this afternoon too. I've just lit the fire because it's fuh freezing, hoping my new log splitte will arrive today, the logs are dry but they're so big and dense it's much more difficult to get them to light so I have to have the fire burning much hotte than I normally do. Think 12 o cloc instaed of eleven o clock on the heat thingy. I can hear everyone driving past on their way to work and am very grateful I'm not one of them. Plans today involve maybe some clothes sorting out, I still haven't emptied my suitcase from October but it is out of sight in the ROD...everything in there is clean, we did the washing before we came back apart from overnight bags so it's not festering away or anything...TA, SuffolkSue, Yorkslass etc, you go steady with your lurgies, don't go trying to do too much! Hugs to the poodles, let's smash the oiks smash the new year start! Stay warm!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13

Brrrrr it’s a chilly one today but it’ll be nice to see some sunshine. We’re due to snow over the weekend so will just make sure we have everything we need. It’s DDad’s 86th birthday, he’s requested Mexican for dinner so I’ve found a recipe for chicken molé, will see how it goes; hopefully chocolate fondant-type pudding for dessert. Will probably have a trek around the lanes - everywhere else is so muddy and /flooded.Take care all - hope everyone can start to get back to normal after the festive season.

Morning GERS and all to follow. Too dark to see what's happening out there, it's currently minus 3 but the forecast is for sun most of the day. I've almost forgotten what the sun looks like! I hope any of you in the many flooded areas are ok. The floods sound pretty widespread.
I got the decs down yesterday in fits and starts! Do a bit then sit a bit, but I got there in the end. The bags and boxes were piled at the bottom of the stairs, one to be taken up each time I passed. It looks so much tidier now but I need to do a dust and vac today as I can see sparkly bits all over! Other than that I have no other plans.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all and keep warm xx

Morning all. Feels chilly today and I've just turned the heating up a notch. DGS is due before too long for a morning of childcare so we'll be exhausted come lunchtime.
I braved the elements, along with 3 friends, yesterday and we did a shortened walk before a late lunch at the pub. The more sensible among us opted just to come for lunch but I was committed, as walk leader. I have only once before in my life been as wet as I got yesterday! I knew the jacket I was wearing was getting to the end of its life but the rain just got in everywhere and I spent time standing under the hand dryer in the Ladies when we got back, trying to dry my top. I had brought spare trousers to change into and was very grateful for those. DH is also now trying to dry his Morris kit, as they did 5 dances outside the pub in the rain before going inside for a music and song session. That side of the bar was packed, as there are regular followers who turn up every year to join in. The house last night smelt of wet jackets and backpacks.
Better get a move on before the toddler arrives. Keep warm and dry everyone.

Good morning all, cold here but not as cold as some of you, -1. Sun forecast later.
DH is going to take the outside lights down today it seems no time since he put them up. He had planned to do it yesterday but the weather was awful. Just the usual chores for me. Will get a long walk with big dog later.
Last night we had salmon with new potatoes and veg made a nice change from the roasts. No idea what to have tonight but there's plenty in. I'm doing a low spend month so won't be swayed by DH saying there's nothing there he wants, my purse is firmly closed. We want to renovate the bathroom this year so savings have to be made.
Time for the first cuppa of the day, hugs to all our poodles, take it easy and be kind to yourselves. Have a good day everyone.10 -
