My Off-grid and need to be frugal diary

It’s been really cold here today, but I still managed two walks and I’ve managed with just one biscuit today.
Other than that, it’s been another lazy Sunday. I’ve been binge watching ‘Legion’ on Prime. At the beginning of last year, I couldn’t have done that as I only had satellite broadband which had a strict data cap so I couldn’t stream TV. Although I’m enjoying watching stuff, I’m watching more TV than I ever used to – so I’m not sure that’s such a good thing.

My new exercise regime and reduced sweet treats is going well.
DH took lots of photographs of some jewellery I want to list, and I spent some time using Google Lens to get some idea of how to describe and price things. Google Lens isn’t always correct but it is a good place for me to start.
The wild strawberry seeds have begun to sprout and I’m even more desperate to get into the garden but it is still too cold.
On the frugal front I had some eggs that needed to be used, so it was a cheese omelette for dinner. I’ll have to go grocery shopping tomorrow though as I used up the last of the salad vegetables.

DH and I have been out all day. We did a lovely walk but had to go into the village to do some shopping. We were both very good and stuck with fruit, veg, milk and bread and we didn’t go into a charity shop. DH did top up with petrol and for the first time ever we had to wait for a pump (only 2 cars though). As usual, when we go to the village, we had lunch.
Tonight we just relaxed and watched a film.

It’s been a beautiful day today, still a little cold, but not too bad. I’ve been on a couple of walks with the dogs and done some dog training.
It was nice enough to do some weeding and I’m so excited that I finally got to work outside. I sowed some seeds inside as frost is still possible here until mid-May.
All in all, it’s been a great day.
Here are the seeds I planted:
Cucumber: Market more
Pea: Hurst green shaft
Cauliflower: All the year round
Kale: Westland winter
Turnip: Silky sweet
Kohl rabi: Azure star
Pumpkin: Big Max
Radish: Mixed
Beetroot: Detroit 2
Huckleberry
Sweetcorn: Earliking
Broadbean: Sutton dwarf
I'm not sure how well the sweetcorn or huckleberry will do here, but I like to try new things.

Fantastic list of sown seeds. I did mine last week and already have tomato seedlings.

Ladybird1106 I'm glad your tomatoes are doing well. I think I will have to sow some more as the last lot of seeds I used were fairly old and germination has been poor.
I managed to do some weeding and bake some biscuits today, but then I tripped and face planted. I have lovely cuts and bruises and I'm developing a black eye, as well as a sore wrist. It could have been so much worse. DH has been taking care of me, but I doubt I'm going to get much done over the next few days. Typing left handed is not easy.

Oh no @AnimalTribe, hope you heal quickly. Its such a shock when that happens I think. Glad OH is taking care of you and I hope you will get some rest over the next few days x

teapot2 thank you. All I could manage today was one-handed tidying, it took me ages.

It is so hard to do anything with one hand. I've sorted out some more seed packets for DH to plant for me tomorrow, but other than that I've just been reading and watching DVDs. It is so frustrating.

Sounds horrendous. Though try and enjoy the reading/DVDs without feeling guilty
