I went for an extra long walk along the moor road this morning. It’s the first day this year I didn’t find even one piece of rubbish. This afternoon I cleared the last remaining plants out of the greenhouse and the house windowsills. I’ve still got lots of elderberries on the trees, but I don’t think it will be long before they all fall. I’m debating whether or not to make jelly, wine or chutney out of them, or whether just to leave making anything until next year as my home-made larder is already full. There’s lots of rosehips and rowan about too. Decisions, decisions.

There were lots of partridges in the yard this morning, they are so cute, and lots of pheasants along the verges. I saw a grey squirrel yesterday. A few years ago the squirrels I saw would have been red.
