Afternoon everyone and a Happy New Year
I've just read back over the last few days. I went to Edinburgh with eldest DD on Monday - she stored her suitcase in a Premier Inn a few minutes walk from the station and we had a nice wander round the shops followed by lunch at Nandos. She left me in TK Maxx just before 2pm to collect her case and catch the airport bus. It was windy in Edinburgh, but not too bad, but then I live on top of a very windy hill so I'm used to it- the New Years Eve events were cancelled just after I got home. She texted to say she was home about 11pm.
Yesterday I had little one for the day and also my nephew who's 7 - we had a lovely day with non stop chat from both of them, they played cafes with little ones' kitchen, built with lego, drew some new pictures to go in frames on my wall and then we played some games. They also played doctors, with little one explaining cannulas to her cousin when it was her turn to be the doctor - 'I'm not going to tell you it won't hurt because it will!' I don't know how many times she told us both 'I'll be 6 on Friday you know!'
At teatime, I went with DD and little one to our local Indian restaurant - it was a good job we went early as it was almost full by 6pm and really busy with big take-away orders too. We had a lovely meal - I was away to bed by 11pm, but woke again just after 12 when DD sent a video of little one watching fireworks on TV and doing the countdown. She was fascinated by the fact that 'tomorrow will be a different year' and DD had said she would wake her up to watch them.
I didn't need to stay up to watch fireworks - from 9pm onwards it sounded like I was surrounded by them! Both cats were scared and were cuddled into me on the sofa.
I've been down to mam and dads for a cuppa with them this morning, done a couple of jobs and am now going to make myself a cup of tea and be lazy for the rest of the day.
I'll pop outside and do my meter readings first - cos Martin says we should - it's very windy still, but the rain has stopped.
Eldest DD was at a club in Nuremburg till about 4am this morning - she sent a text to say Happy New Year, no doubt I'll get all the details later.
Right I hope you all enjoy your day, and echo what everyone else has said about everyones' support on here being invaluable xx

Happy new year!
I'm hoping to turn around some over spending this year. There's a lot of 'low hanging fruit' because we've just been buying mindlessly. We somehow spent 1k on groceries last month. That's a first and a real eye opener2019 MFW #118: 9474/4000 | 2020 MFW #112: 2500/2500 | 2021 MFW #21: 1890/1920 | 2022 MFW #NA: 2180/1920 | 2025 rebuilding emergency fund: 2500/90004
