Morning All
Happy New Year!
Thanks for all your friendship and support over the past year, hope 2025 can be the same.
I didn't stay up for the bells but was woken briefly by some fireworks, actually had the best nights sleep for a long time. Didn't have to venture out at all yesterday thank goodness, the wind was fierce and the rain heavy at times. I watched some TV and re-started a knitting project for the little one.
More of the same today apart from a steak pie dinner at friends later, looking forward to it.
Take care. XX12 -

Morning all and a Happy New Year.
I was in bed but reading when the year changed; heard lots of fireworks go off locally.
Today's walk is down to 4 of us, with others just meeting us for a booked lunch afterwards at 2.30pm. DH and I are committed to being at the venue, which is an hour's drive away, so will see what the weather's like when we arrive as we might do a shortened walk.
Monday's walk around the lights in London was wonderful, although we found the shop lights and displays to be far better and more innovative than the street ones. It was so packed though, especially opposite F&M and in Covent Garden. DH's phone says we walked almost 10 miles
Take care all xx15 -
Happy New Year everyone,
We had a lovely time last night, the meal was gorgeous and we enjoyed the ceilidh dancing although the band had trouble getting people up to dance, the previous times we had been the floor was packed. The fireworks were cancelled because of the weather.
Today we'll be recovering and I'll be trying to finish my jigsaw.
Have a good day.12 -
Morning all from a a very wet and windy Mehefinland
NYE was a washout!! First time I have ever been home alone at New year and I couldn't settle to anything. Pigged out on too many chocs though! Had too stay up for the main event, as need to keep an eye on the horses when there are fireworks going off. needn't have worried as it was so windy and noisy that they were not in the least bit bothered. Most of the noise comes from a town about 1.5- 2 crow fly miles West of the barn but even that was subdued. In some ways I was glad the weather was yuk.
I am not one for resolutions either - I find it a futile exercise as I can never keep to them. I am determined however to get certain things accomplished in this next 12 months. eg complete clear out of the loft and reinsulate; potentially a complete external paint of the bungalow ( never been done since we bought it); a fair bit of internal decorating ( this was sparked by the light fitting change which showed up so much!!) and so on.
Then there is some of the sadder part to deal with, but not today. I whimsically think 'new year- new me' but in my heart of hearts know that won't happen.
Anyway, what ever happens in this next year I am determined to face it head on and deal with it appropriately.
Need to rebuild some bridges with DS, who was as nice as pie when I rang to wish him a happy birthday yesterday. Perhaps my little rant at him has bourne fruit - time will tell.
Keep safe and warm in this atrocious weather ( think of me battling the elements with the nags lol), as always its the good old hugs and spoons. oh and don't forget the poodles.

Morning! The rubbish weather has hit here and the garden has had anything not nailed down blown about so there'll be some tidying tomorrow..or when it stops...It's quite funny or not funny really but I realised I was generally speaking, retired really bar the shouting, because the chances of me working again are very slim. This kind of hit me really in the way that I realised that the world just opened up again, which sounds silly, but in some respects I was living as if I was still sending in sick notes to work if that makes sense, being apologetic about being ill. So my new years resolution is to go out more, to not stay in apart from supermarket shopping, to go and look at things again, go to museums or gardens or scultpure parks or somewhere...Oh and sell anything that I want to get rid of instead of giving it away because that will be funding my overnight stay pot
and now I've said it I have to do it
Happy New Year to you all, to the healthy and the poodles, to the happy and the not so happy or downright unhappy, or the people lonely, or alone or with someone, to you all...take care and a better this year.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13 -
Happy New Year to all of my friends on here and thank you all for the support over the last year xx
Weather is atrocious with heavy rain and the wind is howling I won’t be going far today but will make a start on taking the decorations down.
No resolutions here either as I never stick to them.
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Quick update
decided to put the guys in early as it was so awful. Cue rodeo style stampede - nearly got killed in the rush to get in out of the weather. 3 rather sorry looking drowned rat like nags - and 2 of them had rugs on!! To top it all my blooming boots leaked and I got soaked too. The 'pleasures' of keeping animals bah! and it's still lashing down. Field is like a lake, just glad I am not near any significant watercourses.
Off to try to dry out.
