Deals with existing network
I am currently on ID mobile SIM only deal. I am looking at deals for a new iPhone and ID mobile seem to be offering the deals at the moment. Am I right in thinking i wont be able to transfer my mobile number across on one of these deals as it’s ID mobile to ID mobile and PAC codes are for transferring to a different network? Is my only option transferring to another SIM only deal on a different network with no minimum contract terms and then swap back to ID mobile after a month?

I think you can upgrade to a phone and SIM deal from a SIM only deal and keep your number. I think the issue is when you try and go from PAYG to monthly SIM with the same provider.
In the interests of money saving it's worth looking at the cost of buying a phone outright and getting a new SIM only deal versus getting a new phone deal.0 -

to buy the handset from Apple would be £41.62 a month - plus my £8 a month SIM.
A deal from ID mobile is £42.99 a month with an upfront payment of £29. Topcashback have £40 offer also. So it works out better going via ID mobile if i am eligible to keep my number. I will try and contact them today0 -
ID Mobile will be able to supply you a phone + SIM deal keeping your existing number. Factor in the annual price increase of CPI + 3.9% (currently CPI is 3.5%, that will be a 7.4% increase in monthly payments from April, and again a similar amount the following year). However, as has been pointed out, many of us prefer to buy a phone separately. In the past the expression “I’m due an upgrade” was often heard by customers on 24 month contracts, recently I have seen adverts where you can have a new phone phone every year! Nice commission for the sales person 😂
Phones don’t change that much, it is way cheaper to keep a phone until it’s worn out using whatever SIM only deal suits you the best.0 -
CPI (For November) is 2.6% not 3.5%0

Any guesses what it'll be in February, the CPI that iD actually use for their (perfectly reasonable) price increases?0
