That’s awful @RedRuby1231, glad DD got home safely. I too wonder what is up with folk. We went to A!di earlier and two 20-something girls were walking around shouting the C word and laughing - just so awful. I’m too reckon it’s drugs.Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings8

A late post from me today as I've been out shopping early doors. I didn't need much but decided to do it today since it's supposedly the best day of the week weather-wise before the rain/snow/gales arrive. DS picked me up, pushed the trolley round (he does it far better than I do) and took me home. Whilst busy, it wasn't frantic so all was done and dusted in just under an hour.
I've taken stock of what I have in the fridge, freezer and cupboards and am challenging myself to a low-spend January. Of course, no-spend would be even better but I'll need milk, salad and maybe fresh fruit, so low-spend it is.
Yesterday was another lazy day but I did manage to make a "proper" dinner instead of eating picky bits. Roast beef, Yorkshires, onion gravy, mash, carrots and sweetcorn with a couple of easy peelers for afters. Tonight I'll finish off the last of the pork pie with mushy peas and oven chips and have frozen half a dozen party style mini savoury pies. The box of chocolates remains unopenedas does a box of assorted biscuits and there's a good mix of cheeses as well as veg that should see me through the month. Bread is home-made anyway and if I fancy cake, scones etc I can always bake those myself.
Xmas decs are still up and I'm going to leave them up until next week. Having made an effort in the first place, I'll enjoy them a bit longer. The lights add cosiness and that may well be needed, given the dire weather forecast. I have some rubbish to go out but until the binmen have been - tomorrow? - it's a no-no. Some dozy person has decided to fill our communal bins with - wait for it - a mattress, mattress topper and assorted bedding. And there are numerous unflattened cardboard boxes too. Not to mention a bed frame etc at the side of the bin yard. Give me strength! Strange how these things happen under cover of darkness.
The sore throat is marginally better but I now have a silly tickly cough. I don't like cough sweets so have bought some fruit pastilles to suck and will carry on with the paracetamol and honey drinks. DS continues with the anti-b's for the chest infection and seems to be recovering; hopefully he'll be OK for a return to work on Thursday.
New Year brings another "first" without DH but I'll be mindful that he wouldn't want me to be sad so I'll raise a glass to him on NYE and think about where I want to be at this time at the end of 2025. I hope that others on here who are in this situation will also find peace at what can be a stressful time. All part and parcel of the process, my friends.
So sorry to hear about DD's road rage incident @RedRuby, I hope she's not as shaken up today.
I'm with @IzzyBee, I no longer get upset when DD ignores me. I know I've always tried to do my best so it's her problem, not mine.
@mehefin - I was horrified when I could see cobwebs and dust bunnies after my cataract surgery. Before that at least I had an excuse!
@remmie - Can't beat good old sausage & mash.
Right, off to see what's on TV tonight. If nothing appeals I'll do some reading or knitting and have an early night. Take care all, hugs to the poorly poodles. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9
