Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope your nasty weather soon moves on. According to forecast the yellow weather warning of strong wind, rain and snow is due to clobber us tomorrow and Wednesday. Yuk.
SCARLET it was good to hear your DH's diagnosis isn't as bad as they first feared. I hope treatment can start soon. It's sad to read of so many families who have drifted apart for one reason or even no reason. I can only imagine how hurt you must feel. x
I had a surprise visit from eldest DGD early evening yesterday and I finally met the new chap who didn't make it over after all on Boxing Day for our family do. They were on their way back over to Leeds after an afternoon get together of all the DGC of their other Gran's. Baptism by fire for the poor lad! It was nice to meet him at last even though it was only a quick visit. He seems a nice quiet lad.
I am wondering whether to have a little bus ride along the valley this morning. I seem to have been stuck indoors for weeks, apart from being down at DD's CDay and BDay. I am short of fresh air so I should make the effort, even though I don't need anything. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorly poodles, sad or lonely. Take care all stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning allAs others have said Scarlet good to hear the NHS brought you some good news very promptly.TA I'd definitely do the shopping trip before the bad weather appears!I'm off out later to get some fresh bits to tide me over until the weekend shopping delivery.Have a good day all x13

No snooze came, I simply lay with my eyes closed listening to a podcast.I'm glad I did my shopping on Saturday as it'd be madness to go out today. Yesterday I made a big pot of soup but didn't roast the chicken as I was dithering about whether to go out to get roasting bags or not. That took me to rooting through one of the kitchen drawers as I had a vague idea that I already had some. I didn't, what I had was never used and long forgotten microwave steaming bags. The upshot was I decided that I didn't need roasting bags. 😀 At least I turned out the drawer, found some ice cube bags and chucked out a few things. Then I watched The Mirror Cracked (again). The joy of my day was the Taskmaster New Year Treat which was just that. I have a slight obsession with this programme at the best of times which I try to curb. The 'star' yesterday was our own Martin Lewis who was showed a very different side of himself. Very funny indeed. As for today, as usual I have no real idea apart from hunkering down avoiding the weather. I just hope for some good telly. There's the weekly banking to do which wont take long as I've only spent once since last Monday.I hope that everyone is safe from the wind and rain whenever it reaches you. Hugs to those having a tough time.13

Good morning, it's dry here, yesterday wasn't bad either.
Thank you , thank you all so much for the good wishes for my Dh, it means a lot to have so many people sending good wishes. I must say, the NHS has been absolutely wonderful, can't fault them.
We went to the coast for a walk yesterday, loads of others had the same idea. It was good to go out. As we were going back to the car it started to rain a bit, but there wasn't that icy bite in the wind that we so often get here.
Izzy, what a good idea! Simply look straight ahead so you can't see the dust! That gave me a laugh though. The world won't end if 2024's dust is still around when '25 comes in.
No plans for today, I might nip to our High street for a look round.
Sorry to hear you're still struggling with that lurgy TA. My daughter had it a few weeks ago and she said she'd never felt so bad. It seems to knock the stuffing out of you.
Thoughts to the sad and poorly people, hope everyone has as good a day as they can
Take care folks.14 -
Happy Monday everyone (that’s really just to remind me that it’s Monday!)
Lovely but very muddy walk in the forest yesterday - aching legs this morning!
I think there may be a pop to the shops required today and I must clean the van - there’s mud inside and out.I also feel that I need to start getting organised - it’s that time of year…..I have several notebooks ready for different projects so will see if I can at least get some labels on them!Best wishes to everyone

Good morning all.
I didn't get any of my jobs done yesterday instead DH and I went on a lovely long walk with big dog. The sun was shining and it was just what I needed to lift my mood. So today I really need to catch up. I also need to pop out for some fresh bits before the bad weather we're forecast arrives.
I'm thinking good old sausage and mash for dinner tonight get back to some normality, after all the feasting. Still lots of food leftover I'm sure I still cater for a family. The already groaning freezer will be groaning some more.
I'm waffling now so will take my leave. Hugs to all who need them. Have a good day.13 -
Morning All
I was woken by the strong wind and heavy rain battering the window so I've been pottering about. The fridge has been cleaned, bins emptied and a basket of 'stuff' in the kitchen sorted through so now I have some paperwork to deal with!
Lovely meal out at the Ivy yesterday, the food is good but the service is first class. We had a cocktail too, all the better for being free! My friend went to the DM shop and got a new pair of boots, there wasn't anything I wanted so my purse thankfully stayed closed. It was a lovely sunny day in Glasgow but was raining here when I got home, such a difference in 20 miles.
Glad you're considering a trip out TA, you must be feeling a bit better.
Hugs to you Scarlet.
Popping out in a bit to take some recycling and get some fresh veg to tide me over the new year then I'll hunker down with a book and maybe do some knitting.
Take care. XX12 -
Morning all, it was actually a lovely sunrise and bright skies here first thing, not sure how long it'll last.Scarlet so pleased you have better news for DH.I really feel for those of you who have lost contact with family, it must be very hard.I am contemplating going into town to change my library books, they are due back the day after New Year, I'll see.Yesterday I went to the match with DSons, we met with DB2 and family there. DH watched on tv, and had got the tea ready when we got back
He also put the new hob in, and I tested it by making soup with the turkey bones, so he's getting a bit back to normal.
The kitchen needs a good tidy, but not too bad everywhere else.Right better get going, hope you all have a good day, including the poodles:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10 -
Hello all, I was up and at 'em early this morning so that Mr Fix It could see the vampire nurse at the hospital. I, as usual rode shotgun and it seems our hospitals are back to mask wearing because of the flu. I had read about it so I went prepared in case they didn't provide them but the masks were piled up ready and waiting. Back home now and having a coffee before I do something as lots of stuff needs sorting/putting away. Our presents are still in their xmas bags in the spare room !
We had gammon rissoles for tea yesterday which went down a treat and today's delight will be some hm Boxing day curry from the freezer. My fridge is now somewhat empty but we've still plenty to eat in the cupboards and freezers.
Later I'll put the recycling bins out ready for collection tomorrow.
Hope all the poorly ones feel better today. Hugs available for anyone in need.
Take care all, stay safe warm and dry during the stormy weather.
