Open Task Manager
Search on "pcapp",
Right click on the "PC App Store" app in Task Manager and select "Open file location". This will open the "PC App Store" folder in File Explorer,
Return to Task Manager and right click again on "PC App Store" app, then select "End Task",
Search in Task Manager for "nw_store" (or "nwjs" worked for me)
Right click on "nw_store" or "nwjs" and select End Task.
Return to the previously-opened File Explorer session and select the folder above "PC App Store",
Right click on "PC App Store" folder and select Delete,
Open "Startup Apps" utility and toggle off the "PCAppStore" entry.
Should be good to go at this point.

You really don’t know what else has been installed. So, you should definitely do a deep scan with a decent AV. Malwarebytes for example. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

Nope, already did all that (although there's no search function in my task manager (windows 10). The issue is with chrome search as I said in my original post.Badboi said:Open Task Manager
