Am I dreaming
Options
I'm looking forward to the day when I have a phone in my car. Not just a cradle to stick my existing mobile into but a real separate works by voice control and stays in the car proper car phone that plays through the speakers so when I get in the car at the airport after a few days away I can just say "phone home" and as I pull out of the car park and pay the inflated charges for parking I am in contact with her indoors and she can start warming my slippers.

Do you think that having a phone permanently fixed to your car (or permanently built-in) would be practical? I do a lot of driving with my job, but I spend most of my time OUT of the car.
You'd either need to divert your calls (@£££) or have an answering service that played a message "I'm not in the car now, please leave your name and number and I'll call you back next time I go for a spin".
I think Blaupunkt made a car stereo, some years ago, that had RDS and CD, and a slot for your SIM card, so that the music stopped when you got a call. Time suggests that the idea didn't catch on.
Surely better to refine the current hands-free and voice command technology?something missing0 -

Flash gits used to have them but they fell out of favour when mobile phones became small enough to fit your pocket. Carphone Warehouse is a bit of an anachronism now and the company trades under a different name on the continent.
I'd have thought a properly fitted Bluetooth car kit would fulfill your needs: it'll still work if you leave the actual phone in your pocket.0 -
Am I dreaming?
Apparently not, though you have to want a Land Rover
