@Laura_Elsewhere - The hat is beautiful. Glad to hear your mum is doing so well.7

@Laura_Elsewhere so glad to hear about your mum and thank you for the baking. I've just sneaked half a piece. That hat was truly amazing.
@thriftwizard congratulations to your dd - will follow the progress of your outfit with interest.
Ds2 who is a true thrifty son has informed me that whenever he and his partner do get married I should wear the same (navy) outfit that I had for ds1's wedding in 2023. I am very tempted - just with different accessories - aren't hats coupon free?“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Navy is very versatile - I'm considering wearing the same navy dress for a wedding this autumn that I wore to a wedding a couple of years ago. The eagle-eyed guests may spot it as the brides are sisters! I had it with quite a harsh white last time, so I wonder if I can get away with pink and soft this time around?thriftmonster said:@Laura_Elsewhere so glad to hear about your mum and thank you for the baking. I wish I could re-wear the dress I had for DS1's wedding as it's gorgeous, but a bit showy for an aunt by marriage, and I'm far from sure I could still get in it!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

In all honesty I couldn’t tell you what any of the guests wore to weddings I’ve been to - unless it’s something that stands out because it was very unusual or possibly inappropriate!Even the late Queen, Princess Anne and the Princess of Wales recycle outfits so you’re in good company.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.10

@thriftwizard congratulations to your daughter and her fiance. Hope you can find a dress that you love, not one that "will do" for the big day.

Unless people are comparing the photographs of both weddings at the same time, I bet they wont even notice you are wearing the same dress. I think hats were coupon free, but you might have to dress it up a bit, if you know what I mean.

I just had to share this photo with you. Last night, I went to a 50th birthday party. The theme was 1980’s, so I went full “power suit”:
Just look at those shoulders! The jacket is part of a woollen suit that I made in the early 1990’s. Sadly, the skirt is too tight to wear so I settled on a pair of trousers from a much later suit.

Great photo @PipneyJane - you look wonderful! And those shoulders!! Did we really wear those? Well, obviously, yes. I remember it as an era of red, burgundy and black, big hair and big shoulders. And lots of good memories. I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living.
