My DD was given a kit a while ago to crochet a Colin Caterpillar. She can knit, so of course her friend assumed she could make that too!! I've started it, but what a palaver. Every row needs counting carefully so it's going to take me a while....There's a reason I don't buy amigurumi kits. 😆😉

I think it would have to be lined, it would be hard to attach the zip if it were just crochet. So using up scrap fabric as well.

Happy New Year to all!

My flight went well, despite the very high winds, and today back to reality! 

@Cherryfudge this is the one I have used, is part of a course and is lesson 3, I had already watched the first two because I had no idea even how to thread a machine (and still don't, having done it only once, I will have to watch it again when I take the machine out) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ef--qhq25s let me know what you think!

OH gave me a beautiful present when I came back, it's a wooden yarn holder with a magnet on top, and it fits more than one ball or cake of yarn! He noticed I always mumble and grumble with annoyance when the wool rolls to the floor, I keep it in a basket usually but it still manages to jump out. I have already put it to use to start DS's second fingerless mitt. I only have 2 days to make it, so wish me luck. 

Also, in the spirit of the challenge, I wanted to report that this morning I saw OH pick up the net bag I crocheted with leftovers almost 2 years ago, and it's the first time he takes it on his own accord to go to the small local shop! I felt very proud of him.

Have finished the scarf for my nephew - Christmas next year. Using up balls of wool.

That’s lovely @Gem-gem! Is it an infinity scarf? I can’t see the end where the black is. I definitely applaud you for working with the black! I have been using it, but definitely do not enjoy it. It’s going to be a wonderful gift!

@laura_lau, I'm glad your flight went well despite the rough weather. Thanks for the link: I learned to thread a machine at school but my current one is slightly different and the bobbin is a nightmare. I found it only works if I draw the thread through at an angle, and that came from an afternoon poring over videos, none of which spelled out that the thread would snarl if straight. I suppose it could be a tension problem, but I feel tension is better off without my 'help'.

@Gem-gem, that's a very snuggly-looking scarf - and imagine you being ahead on the knitting for next Christmas! I've not finished what I started for last Christmas (2023) yet!

Lovely scarf @Gem-gem. Your edges are very neat! 😁 I also learned how to thread a machine at school but I need to get used to my new sewing machine. I need to make some tablecloths for our coffee morning as the ones we're using are starting to go at the edges and are wearing thin. 
I've not been long home....DD asked me if I fancied going on a stargazing evening with her....it was brilliant! It was at Twice Brewed which is in a dark sky area, in the Northumberland National Park, and it was run by Wil of WilPhotograhy. We used enormous telescopes and watched a video about the aurora. Then we went into the planetarium for another show. It was worth the hour drive each way.

That sounds amazing, @MrsCD, especially as the skies are so clear tonight. I'm loving having a phone camera that can take recognisable photos of constellations, so I can only imagine how brilliant it is through telescopes.
