I see a couple of recent threads that relate to customers wanting to switch networks a few days after taking out a contract… Why on earth do folks not pick up a cheap PAYG SIM and try the proposed network for coverage etc. before committing to a 12 month (or longer) contract?
There are only 4 networks (soon to be 3), plus asking friends, so it isn’t hard to determine coverage, one way or another. Then it’s down to price, T&Cs, roaming charges (if applicable), etc.
There are good value “30 day rolling” SIM only deals which do not involve contracts, examples include GiffGaff and 1p Mobile.
Do users not check things before taking on contracts?

What's MSE's policy on posts that have been generated by ChatGPT (or whatever this week's AI chatbot of choice is)?
There's maybe some bit of useful information buried in the screeds of Down Home homily that @FlaatusGoat has been posting all over the place but I'm not going to read it all to find out.
Could whoever is responsible for posting this stuff please turn the "Verbose" setting down.7 -
And learn how to format a few paragraphs.flaneurs_lobster said:

It's annoying. Over on the Site Feedback forum, it looks like AI posts are to be tolerated. If this is true then it's going to make MSE useless.flaneurs_lobster said:What's MSE's policy on posts that have been generated by ChatGPT (or whatever this week's AI chatbot of choice is)?

Also, there's no category to report irrelevant AI nonsense.4 -
I'd ban it.PHK said:

Eventually it will become impossible to tell human from AI at which point you can't ban it.3 -
They will not even ban trolls or people who deliberately spread misinformation, so the probability of them banning AI posts is likely zero, as long as the AI is "nice".flaneurs_lobster said:

That's not the case - AI-generated posts are against the rules, and have been for a couple of years. If you see a post you suspect to be AI-generated, please do report it using the 'report' button - the 'technical disruption' option is probably the best fit. We can and do regularly remove such posts and take appropriate action.PHK said:It's annoying. Over on the Site Feedback forum, it looks like AI posts are to be tolerated.
