This was my experience too. In fairness they do say you need a Bank of Scotland account for the Monthly Saver. Technically a Halifax account IS a BoS account but it's not worth the bother having an argument about it.Dugal said:BoS RS
Tried opening this account without a BoS current account. It suggested logging in with Lloyds or Halifax details would help, but both logins failed. Tried opening as a new customer, got to the end only to have a 'something went wrong ' message. So have opened a current account. Suspect I need to wait for the activation code for online access to arrive in the post to open the RS account.0 -
I received 5 from Principality today, all saying something that I already know. I wish they (and others for that matter) didn't use window envelopes, takes time to separate plastic from paper - nobody wants plastic in their compost.mhoc said:In todays post now forming a formidable compost heap on my desk
- 5 maturity letters from Coventry building society - I thought that there were just 3 accounts maturing ...
And 17 letters from Principality!

Principality and Coventry are probably the worst for wasting money on unnecessary postagesurreysaver said:
Mine were spread over a week. They could probably have paid me 15% interest on my six month regular savers if they went paperless!ForumUser7 said:

I can't imagine a recycling centre assisting me with feeding my compost heap.subjecttocontract said:

Yes - same happened to me before having CA, but with other LBG CAs... Further after applying for CA and despite CS saying that now I had CA, could apply for RS online, without logging on, it failed. I had a lot of failure with BoS, but it worked out in the end and CS were very good for me.Dugal said:BoS RS

As members of these societies can we raise the issue of paper free and postage cost ? Perhaps suggest an incentive or even a special paper free bonus digital RS account as a reward instead of branch based or post code restricted and also agree to accepting marketing from the organisation directly, if that's a key must have for the BS and why they offer branch based and post code restricted or any other restricted RS account.allegro120 said:

Update - Received message today thanking me for opening account and that passbook has been posted. All communication and activities appear to have been through the Coalville branch.Born2Save_3 said:HRBS Christmas Regular Saver 30 Day Notice Opening ExperienceCalled and asked for application forms to be sent. Duly received and completed. Returned with own envelope and 2nd class postage on 4/12. Received 3 missed calls and 2 emails on 9/12. HRBS use a secure email service, egress.com to send account details for first deposit, as I had stated that I would fund with faster payment for first deposit. Never heard of egress.com before and needed to create account to get to message sent. Bit wary of having to create account and share some personal data with a third party, egress, to access HRBS message. Anyway got pleasant enough message from HRBS person and HRBS RS account details. Setup transfer, and as did following day CoP passed. All good. HRBS stated I had 5 days to make first deposit or account *may* be closed. Stated that as soon as they see deposit made will send passbook. With BS that have passbook accounts, I'm pretty sure I'm missing one or two passbooks, as this is almost certainly a manual process to post and may not happen. So note to self to check that I receive d**n passbook. Then they get particular about needing to have a passbook to do transactions. When I opened a Kent Reliance RS in person they didn't have any passbooks and told me they wouldn’t send one in the post, but it would be ok as it wasn't really that important. But I could get one in person; great. Got to plan a nice day trip to Gravesend to get new RS some time...

Letter received from Principality telling me that they have actioned my maturity options for the 6 mth RS. So, all being well it will be my second issue 4. I will find out next week.
Perhaps they are preventing those who have 4 or 5 of the same issue from obtaining another?Mortgage Free November 2018

Thank you for your reply. I was struggling to open a Halifax RS for my wife who has BOS & Lloyds accounts. I did as you suggested and just opened a new application for a Halifax RS on line and it worked straight away. Many thanksWillPS said:
In theory the Halifax Regular Saver doesn't require anything to be held with Halifax (or even LBG). That being said, occasionally someone posts saying they're having issues and generally the easiest way to fix them is to open a Halifax current account first.Hal17 said:
I just tried it and unfortunately it did not work. I think you might need a current account in each of the three different banks.PRAISETHESUN said:BoS RSIn the past I've registered for online banking at BoS using details for one of my Halifax accounts. This has allowed me to login and open BOS savings accounts, including their RS, without a BoS current account. With the combining of LBG accounts now visible in all 3 online banking I'm unsure if you'd now be able to register for all 3 online banking using the details of just one account from one of the 3 banks, and opening bank specific savings accounts that way?
