Long and weird. Wife and I sent our applications toward the end of Oct. They both came back the next week because neither of us had filled out the 'nominated account' bit (weirdly on the right of the form, even though it's nowt to do with joint accounts so pay attention to that).Bobblehat said:
Thanks, so the Freepost route is the sensible way if you have to send a cheque anyway!WillPS said:
Emailed application form is acceptable, but it must be of a scan with a wet signature so you'll need a hard copy either way.Bobblehat said:

No stamp needed - they have a Freepost address in their T&Cs and they'll send you an application pack if you haven't a printer.Kim_13 said:
Surely better to submit a postal application, as they will accept one. Even if the travel isn't costing money, the time taken must be worth more than a stamp.surreysaver said:
I'll have to pop up to Scotland sometime as their one hasn't appeared online
The relationship centre account is the same as the postal one, so you can't double up by going up to Scotland.
Am I right in thinking you can even scan the application form (available online) and your POI docs and email the application (if you are not worried about email security)? Can you also pay the first deposit by FP or does it have to be a cheque only before they open the account?
Initial deposit must be by cheque in the account holder's name (which you can send in by Freepost if you want to keep docs in the post to a minimum).
What are the timescales like from the day of posting off the application to the date the account has the cheque registered? I am wondering whether to apply later this month (with the added variability of Christmas) or wait until January and try to time it for a late Jan deposit followed by an early Feb deposit.
We then sent again early in November. Mine came back with a passbook about a week later but wife ended up chasing hers and it finally arrived right at the end of the month.
Getting online accounts sorted also takes a week or so for post to arrive with activation details.
Sooner is better if you're concerned about getting a deposit in before NY.1 -
I will try to remember to let you know as I posted my application form, cheque and copies of documents a week ago (26th Nov) and the cheque has not been cashed yet ...Bobblehat said:

...and if you could write that out in Java (or at least pseudocode) just to help PrinBS implement the fix a bit quicker that'd be kind...Oh dear. Can you talk us through how you entered the instructions which led to this. Did your instructions generate a "sent" secure message? Where did you instruct the funds coming out at maturity to go to (internal or external account?)0 -
So my first payment was taken on the 1st of this month(Dec), but it looks like my first proper standing order will be on the 30th also December. So will that count as January's payment? But what about 30th January then? 28 days in February, what about that?Bob2000 said:FIRST DIRECT.
l opened my second FD regular saver last night at 9.33pm, after my first one mature a month or so ago.
After completing the application via my app, it stated it will take three working days to be available to see and fund.
I've just gone on the app, and it's already there! There is currently no money in my current account, so will the automatic standing order be initiated tomorrow?
