Received the login information today. I had applied on Oct 20, which was the day I had received the passbook. Originally applied for the RS by post on October 9.

I have now also applied for an esaver so my online access stays alive once the RS matures.

As a new customer I have opened a Hanley Econ. Online Smart Saver (Reg. Saver)
Can anyone tell me from experience long it takes to receive the User ID and get online access?
    Thanks.

I received my welcome pack and temporary User ID today, exactly a week after applying online.

I can confirm that the new password I was asked to provide during signup was never used at anytime.

When signing in with the temporary id you are asked to create a new id, and when using the emailed temporary password you are forced to create a new password.

The password "question mark" help says you can provide a password up to 16 characters, but this is incorrect, it actually doesn't allow you to enter more than 12 characters in the change password field, or the login password field, which is rather short for 2025. You then have to set a memorable question/answer.

SCOTTISH BUILDING SOCIETY  ONLINE REGULAR SAVER.

I spoke earlier today to a member of staff over the phone (11.46am) and asked them if they're launching the online version of their postal/branch Regular Saver.
I was told there are no plans at the moment to do so.
And now there's the scramble to try to get an account opened by post and initial deposit received before the end of the month. I suspect this is is going to be rather tight.

For those who were holding out for the online version to be launched please accept my apologies for the misinformation. It seems my sources are growing unreliable of late.
It's not your fault, you just announced what you were told by customer services representative.  As we know, these can be misleading and can't be taken as facts.

It's also possible that the person Bob2000 spoke to was wrong, and that Bridlington1's original source was right.

Or that Scottish Building Society have changed their mind in the meantime, possibly because they got more applications than expected.

Either way, I'm in no hurry to open the account, postal or otherwise, if it becomes available online it'll be a bonus. Nobody needs to sue other forum members for giving incorrect information!
I’d lean towards them having changed their mind, as another forumite was also told that it was planned when they took the opportunity to enquire having received a courtesy call. They wouldn’t have included a line in their T and Cs saying only one Regular Saver or e-Regular Saver (a product that doesn’t exist) had there been no intention at that time to launch one.
I agree, they've probably found some kind of an IT gremlin so had to pause it.

They are not being very joyful with that rate and maximum monthly deposit limit.

I will be giving it a miss.
Yeah, they will probably drop the rate during the term as well. In addition to the unexciting rate and low monthly deposit limit, the opening by post is a drag and the 30 day notice for withdrawals is almost insulting. I'm not averse to postal opening if the terms are very good, but this doesn't meet that description.

Plus all the OTT faff with temporary passwords, flakey encrypted emails and UID's by snail mail. Plenty of reasons to swerve this one.

I had similar issues, where it would not accept it either. My first attempt to put in a 16 char password was with special characters and I did not realise that was not allowed. After that, I still could not put in a 16 char password without special characters, getting the same error.

I came back out and then started again and put in 16 char without special chars the first time and it got accepted. I think the initial error does not get cleared on subsequent attempts, at least in my case. I can confirm though that I do now have a 16 char password with them

Edit : sorry I misread it, I thought it was on accepting it, I dont know why you cannot actually enter more than 12, that was not an issue for me

At last!  I'm one of the former Hanley customers who couldn't complete their new account opening.  A couple of hours ago I got an email saying my application was complete and I'd be receiving information in the post.  I've just logged into HEBS using my previous login and the new account is there.  Just in time to fund for October.

Just received my welcome pack with my account number. Still not able to go on line (Id will be sent by post). What is the best method to pay into the account before the end of the month so as to be able to pay again next week? Call them and use my debit card? It's the first time I have a choice between BACS and CHAPS payment. What did you go for?
