Yes this caused me issues when wanting to send money to Lloyds or Newbury BS. It’s so frustrating but hopefully they will sort it quickly though I believe it’s been going for some time.SH88SH88 said:Beverley RS
If anyone uses First Direct, here's a heads-up ....
You won't be able to create a Standing Order (using online banking or the App) for Bev BS RS as the account number is eight zeros.
However, FD staff are able to do so, therefore use telephone banking and they'll do it for you. This obviously applies if trying to create a SO to pay to any other Bank/BS using a Collection account of all zeroes.1 -
Is it just standing orders that are at issue, or can you not even set up a new payee with an all-zero account number? I thought I had done this and sent a manual payment successfully in the past.SH88SH88 said:Beverley RS

It's only SO. A 'manual payment' works fine. A clumsy bodge would be to create a few forward-dated payments, but it's a tad time consuming.masonic said:

I also had a similar(ish) issue when making a manual payment. It crashed with a generic internal error code. They investigated and replied that there was a Space in the Reference field.OrangeBlueGreen said:

I pointed out that I didn't (intentionally) use a space. They informed me that it sometimes occurred whilst 'pasting ' from email, other bank apps etc. Needless to say, whilst using FD , I now avoid copy/paste like the plague .....1 -
They sent me round in circles from one staff member to another telling me I could setup the standing order myself but I kept telling them about the error message. Ironically I had pointed out to the first member of staff that it was most likely to do with the 0s, but oh no I had it wrong (I was right!). Took a complaint to get it sorted.SH88SH88 said:

Has everyone who applied via email received a response from them?
Yes; had to send my driving licence via email, only to be told afterwards that all was well and my account would be further processed WHEN they receive my opening deposit ... by mail. Groan. (Now off to find the chequebook in the dusty drawers of old...)
Last time I wrote out a cheque the stub was dated 2019
Thought I might apply as nothing came from Savings Week - don't use cheques anymore so had to hunt for the cheque book - found - it has a Griffin on the front and is from Midland Bank - still got same account - wonder if HSBC would process the payment - however just switched my Santander CA to Nationwide and asked for a cheque book.Don't wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.1 -
Slightly off topic, we tried opening a NatWest ISA for OH yesterday, which although it has issued an account number, hasn't appeared on his account list. Annoyingly I transferred £5K to our joint account yesterday in anticipation of moving it into the ISA. He has a Regular Saver with them which I previously emptied as he's nearing his £500 PSA, so I've just moved the £5K into the RS to see what would happen, and it's accepted the transfer. Will they bounce this back to the joint account I wonder or leave it?Make £2025 in 2025

I've been able to withdraw large sums from the Natwest regular saver and return them before the end of the month - sometimes up to £2000. It's never been bounced back. It's always been within the same calendar month, and I've never put in more than I've taken out. I recall other people saying they've been able to do the same.Slinky said:Slightly off topic, we tried opening a NatWest ISA for OH yesterday, which although it has issued an account number, hasn't appeared on his account list. How long ago did you empty the regular saver? Given that we're near the start of the month, I'm assuming that you're not returning the money within the same month.0 -
Don't understand why you would think it would bounce back ? You made a transfer to your RS, but it won't be dated until tomorrow and won't accrue any interest so you could move it back to the joint or just move it to the ISA now as you have the a/c details which won't show in the app til tomorrow or Tues.Slinky said:Slightly off topic, we tried opening a NatWest ISA for OH yesterday, which although it has issued an account number, hasn't appeared on his account list.
