Could grief what is the matter with me :)
My standing order for Newcastle bounced back this afternoon and I assumed it must be a 1st of the month quirk (no idea where that theory came from) so I sent off £200 again.
Then I logged in and realised this is the anniversary month so it bounced because it had reached its full £2400 so the 2nd payment will also bounce back as well!

No maturity instructions as yet but still slightly early - will they arrive by email or letter and will I be able to give instructions via the account online?

Last year I didnt manage to get OH a Newcastle regular saver last October, ID issues so prior to my Newcastle maturing I might have another attempt. Yes its only 5.25% and variable but it will be somewhere to put funds from the accounts that will be culled this month - Leek, Stafford, at least one Coventry ....

This has matured into a holding account but I can't see how to withdraw the funds online. Any ideas?

I'm sorry. It's bad news, I'm in this situation too. Apparently if we had given maturity instructions prior to the account maturing (I was told a letter was sent and also possible to do online within 14 days prior to closure) then the funds would have arrived into the nominated account by close of business today.

As it stands, the only way to get the money out is to make a request by secure message, which will take up to two business days for a response, then wait 3 more business days while they do a BACS transfer. All the while it's earning less than 2%. Horrifying! I've made a note for my other accounts to stay on top of future maturity instructions!

I applied for the Scottish BS RS this morning by email.
Just had an email from them advising that the account is now open and ready to be funded. They have asked me to post them a cheque. I have emailed them back advising that I don’t have a cheque book, and  have asked if I can do a bank transfer from my nominated bank .
Thanks, please let us know what they say. If it's necessary to post a cheque then there's little point to an emailed application, as it doesn't save the postage.
Just had the following email response from them

Regrettably, for postal applications, the initial payment must be made by personal cheque drawn from a UK Bank or Building Society account in your name. This requirement is stated at the bottom of our application form.

Please confirm whether you are able to provide a cheque from an account held in your name. Unfortunately, if this is not possible, we will be unable to proceed with your application.

    Re. Scottish BS RS
Applying as a new customer, can the application be emailed together with id and deposit sent by bank transfer once account is open or do i need to send application, id and cheque in post?
I've emailed my application together with ID.  I guess it should be ok because that's what it says on the application form:

"You have 3 options for sending your completed application form and ID to us:
    1. Email your scanned application form and ID to us at: members@scotbs.co.uk 2. Post your application form and ID to us at: Scottish Building Society, SBS House, 193 Dalry Road, EDINBURGH EH11 2EF 3. If you apply face-to-face in any of our Relationship Centres, you’ll need to provide two separate forms of ID when you visit us."

In my understanding cheque deposit is only obligatory for postal applications, but I could be wrong.

"For postal applications, your first deposit to the account must be made by cheque and must be issued from a UK Bank or Building Society Account in your name."

Thanks, it will have to do! I don't recall receiving a letter but it's been a busy few weeks so probably my fault!

That's what I use.  I've tried many and they either didn't do the full job or charge for download. PDFgear is free and does everything needed for application forms.

    Same here!
I forgot to mention. They asked that the last 4 digits of the nominated account number be mentioned in the secure message so they can check them against the information they have on file.
