Could grief what is the matter with me

My standing order for Newcastle bounced back this afternoon and I assumed it must be a 1st of the month quirk (no idea where that theory came from) so I sent off £200 again.
Then I logged in and realised this is the anniversary month so it bounced because it had reached its full £2400 so the 2nd payment will also bounce back as well!
No maturity instructions as yet but still slightly early - will they arrive by email or letter and will I be able to give instructions via the account online?
Last year I didnt manage to get OH a Newcastle regular saver last October, ID issues so prior to my Newcastle maturing I might have another attempt. Yes its only 5.25% and variable but it will be somewhere to put funds from the accounts that will be culled this month - Leek, Stafford, at least one Coventry ....“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Suffolk Building Society - Regular saver ending Sept 2025
This has matured into a holding account but I can't see how to withdraw the funds online. Any ideas?1 -
I'm sorry. It's bad news, I'm in this situation too. Apparently if we had given maturity instructions prior to the account maturing (I was told a letter was sent and also possible to do online within 14 days prior to closure) then the funds would have arrived into the nominated account by close of business today.granta said:Suffolk Building Society - Regular saver ending Sept 2025

As it stands, the only way to get the money out is to make a request by secure message, which will take up to two business days for a response, then wait 3 more business days while they do a BACS transfer. All the while it's earning less than 2%. Horrifying! I've made a note for my other accounts to stay on top of future maturity instructions!3 -
A few updates:
Leeds BS Regular Saver (Issue 68) at 4.7% NLA, replaced by issue 69 at the same rate but a new maturity date of 4/10/27
Chorley BS Regular Saver (31.08.2026) and Regional 2 Year Flexible Saver (31.08.2027) at 5.15% NLA, replaced by Regular Saver (30.09.2026) and Regional 2 Year Flexible Saver (30.09.2027) respectively at the same rate
I am aware of the launch of the Scottish BS Regular Saver at 6.5% and the Virgin Money Regular Saver Exclusive Issue 4 at 6.5%.
Also of note which I can't seem to see mentioned is that Nottingham BS Branch Regular Saver Issue 4 and Online RS Issue 1 at 4.75% are NLA, replaced by their Branch RS Issue 5 and Online RS Issue 2 at the same rate but with a new maturity date of 30/11/26. There's nothing in the Ts&Cs that I can see preventing you from having one of each issue.
I shall add the above to page 1 of this thread shortly. Apologies for not adding these sooner, I've not really stopped today with it being 1st of the month so lots of regular savers to feed and it being a working day.
Additionally just a reminder the following interest rate cuts come into effect tomorrow:Account Old rate New rate Date YBS Christmas 2025 Regular Saver/eSaver 4.80% NO CHANGE 02/10/2025 YBS First Home Saver/eSaver 4.70% NO CHANGE 02/10/2025 YBS Loyalty Regular Saver/eSaver 5.05% 4.85% 02/10/2025 YBS Regular Saver/eSaver 4.45% 4.25% 02/10/2025 YBS 50 Pound Regular Saver/eSaver 6.00% NO CHANGE 02/10/2025

Just had the following email response from themKim_13 said:
Thanks, please let us know what they say. If it's necessary to post a cheque then there's little point to an emailed application, as it doesn't save the postage.Stargunner said:I applied for the Scottish BS RS this morning by email.
Just had an email from them advising that the account is now open and ready to be funded. They have asked me to post them a cheque. I have emailed them back advising that I don’t have a cheque book, and have asked if I can do a bank transfer from my nominated bank .Regrettably, for postal applications, the initial payment must be made by personal cheque drawn from a UK Bank or Building Society account in your name. This requirement is stated at the bottom of our application form.
Please confirm whether you are able to provide a cheque from an account held in your name. Unfortunately, if this is not possible, we will be unable to proceed with your application.

I've emailed my application together with ID. I guess it should be ok because that's what it says on the application form:Aidanmc said:Re. Scottish BS RS
Applying as a new customer, can the application be emailed together with id and deposit sent by bank transfer once account is open or do i need to send application, id and cheque in post?"You have 3 options for sending your completed application form and ID to us:
1. Email your scanned application form and ID to us at: members@scotbs.co.uk 2. Post your application form and ID to us at: Scottish Building Society, SBS House, 193 Dalry Road, EDINBURGH EH11 2EF 3. If you apply face-to-face in any of our Relationship Centres, you’ll need to provide two separate forms of ID when you visit us."In my understanding cheque deposit is only obligatory for postal applications, but I could be wrong.
"For postal applications, your first deposit to the account must be made by cheque and must be issued from a UK Bank or Building Society Account in your name."

Thanks, it will have to do! I don't recall receiving a letter but it's been a busy few weeks so probably my fault!BestSeagull said:

That's what I use. I've tried many and they either didn't do the full job or charge for download. PDFgear is free and does everything needed for application forms.OrangeBlueGreen said:Scottish BS email applications

I forgot to mention. They asked that the last 4 digits of the nominated account number be mentioned in the secure message so they can check them against the information they have on file.1
