I just got a call from Scottish BS RS regarding my application (it came up as suspected spam on my phone).

Its all gone though but my request to send the initial payment via bank transfer (I wrote it on the application form as per the suggestion on here) was 'not possible' and I have to send a cheque via post within 14 days. After that I can pay in online or bank transfer. They are sending out an envelope for me to return the cheque.
Did you post or email the form. If email did you do a wet signature or electronic?
Emailed it (along with my passport) and I did a wet signature, I have a printer / scanner.

I think for many of us it’s a bit of a game. I actually enjoy the 1st of the month and moving money around…….and before anyone says, I know I can automate a lot of it but I don’t want to.
Me too. I do it manually due to funds often arriving from an EA on the 1st, also issues with others’ SOs going too early in the morning and leading to returned payments. Then there is funding different numbers of accounts each month.

I also enjoy the 1st and manually moving money - However, the 1st Nov 2025 is a Saturday, that might delay things as not much point sending money to a Building Society at the weekend that won't process it until Monday the 3rd!

A thought occured to me today about Furness BS, who credit payments sent on 1st on the 2nd, has anyone successfully tried sending payment on the last day of the month to be credited on 1st following month?

Has everyone who applied via email received a response from them?
    Scottish Reg Saver

I scanned and emailed the completed application form last night together with scanned photo driving license for ID ( I know others said that’s risky)
Had an email at 2pm today saying received and being processed
An opening Cheque Deposit needs to be posted to Head Office /Dalry Road within 14 days then a welcome pack will be sent out.
I’ll post off a cheque not sure if to risk the previously mentioned Freepost address or use a stamp !

I send payments on the 1st to regular savers regardless of which day of the week it falls on, that way I've got things out of the way, it's habit etc

I applied via email with a digital signature and it had been accepted. Like others, I need to send a cheque with the initial payment.

Printed off forms for both me & hubby and sent off today with ID’s & cheques using the freepost address. When I googled their freepost is showing on some of their literature so guessing it should be okay 🤞

Scottish RS: It seems like we have the best route to apply figured out now. I shall get my application filled out and posted off. Thanks to those who helped piece it together.

Yes; had to send my driving licence via email, only to be told afterwards that all was well and my account would be further processed WHEN they receive my opening deposit ... by mail. Groan. (Now off to find the chequebook in the dusty drawers of old...)
