I'm currently doing about 200 to 300 £1.01 debit card transactions per week from RBS/Natwest into my Skipton savings account to get regular saver round ups. So my question is, should I be expecting the Skipton Building Society inquisition any day soon? 

1. As someone else has mentioned Skipton may contact you about this. Though I note @gt94sss2 mention direct debits and you said debit card payments.

2. If you're using the RBS/Natwest roundups feature, just as a heads up in case you hadn't noticed you can add a multiplier to your roundups to speed up this process. Though again you are gaming the system slightly, but maybe by using the multiplier you can reduce the number of debit card transactions to more manageable levels. a nice £4.95 going in per payment instead of 99p might be useful.

Yes, I have the multiplier on, but worthwhile to have drawn attention to it. I can't help but feel gaming the system is a bit of a mute point on this forum. Institutions have every opportunity to create terms and conditions that prevent any particular approach to their offers. I tend to think that money is made FROM "typical cuatomers" and all we can do is avoid being typical customers with the aim of being the ones to make the money FROM the institutions. 

The lengths some go to leaves me temporarily speechless.

Each transaction takes literally seconds and is something I can do whilst watching telly or being driven in the car somewhere and the money will then sit in an account that I'm reasonably confident will be a market leading account rate wise for some years going forward. 

It was a joke. Mute point. Speechless.

Yesterday (Sunday) I did an online instruction to close my Exclusive Regular Saver Issue 2 (balance at £6K, 4.90% variable, maturity due 24th August). Took less than a minute to do.  Cleared funds received early pm today in my nominated account:- £6,179.

Monmouthshire are much better at dealing with closing accounts than opening them including sending as letter/QR code allowing you to submit maturity instructions in advance.

That’s brilliant, and much better than what it says when you make a card deposit

I did a debit card deposit on Sunday afternoon, already showing by this afternoon. Wasn't expecting that!

I had this when I applied. The account number is the reference number. It's needed to pay into the account by bank transfer.

I was waiting until I phoned them earlier - there was a batch of email approvals sent out on Saturday, which I didn't receive. I was told that the ref number is actually your RS account number (once the application is approved) and can be used to set up online access, fund the account etc, which I have done. I would double-check with a quick phone call first though to make sure it's open.

EDIT: For info I submitted my application late Friday afternoon

I've just sent £10 to them with my reference number. Either it'll get credited to my account, returned, or someone gets a tenner from me!

That's only because your application was instantly successful. For those needing their application to be reviewed by staff, we only get an application reference number.

I paid a small initial deposit online by visa debit card into a new Darlington RS on Friday and it is still not showing on Monday night. 

I also paid two further deposits by bank faster payments, on Sat. and today, and both are showing in the account. 

I know how to pay in from now on!
