Applied for the Darlington RS on Saturday as a new customer. Received a reference number but no other communication from them. Expected that I might hear something from them today, but nothing as yet. Anybody else still waiting?
I was waiting until I phoned them earlier - there was a batch of email approvals sent out on Saturday, which I didn't receive. I was told that the ref number is actually your RS account number (once the application is approved) and can be used to set up online access, fund the account etc, which I have done. I would double-check with a quick phone call first though to make sure it's open.

EDIT: For info I submitted my application late Friday afternoon

I've just sent £10 to them with my reference number. Either it'll get credited to my account, returned, or someone gets a tenner from me!

I had this when I applied. The account number is the reference number. It's needed to pay into the account by bank transfer.

Mine said that my application would be reviewed.

That's only because your application was instantly successful. For those needing their application to be reviewed by staff, we only get an application reference number.

If you log into your (new) online account, you can see your Darlington Account number that you must use with their sort code and account number (IIRC it is 40-05-30, 14575881). Or you can just use your debit card and make a deposit when logged in - though that takes 2-3 days to get credited.
I paid £250 by debit card on Friday 8th into new Darlington RS. Showing today (Monday) with a credit date of 8th August.
That’s brilliant, and much better than what it says when you make a card deposit
I paid a small initial deposit online by visa debit card into a new Darlington RS on Friday and it is still not showing on Monday night.
I also paid two further deposits by bank faster payments, on Sat. and today, and both are showing in the account.
I know how to pay in from now on!

I tried to make a debt card payment 4 times this afternoon to my Darlington RS and the Darlington system wouldn't connect to Lloyds?! Alternative, SO's going out tomorrow.

Why not go the whole hog and try to register for online access using the same ref number? It’s pretty quick to do so, and if your account has been opened I reckon it should let you in

Have not heard anything as yet, I'm keeping my head down.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

I had, triggered by me applying for a new regular saver. £2,250 was returned from regular saver maturing in November as requested.
