Yes, I have just this morning funded my Manchester BS RS from my linked account before the code has arrived in the post, and received a txt message and email to confirm the deposit was received.trickydicky14 said:MANCHESTER REGULAR SAVER.
Just logged in for the first time and I see you have to enter a ‘Authentication code’ to use your linked bank account and it says, this will come in a letter.
Can I still fund the regular saver from my ‘linked account’ before this code arrives and is used?
I’m thinking the code is more about making withdrawals and not deposits.
Thanks for any help.
Their FAQ says that the account number to use in the reference is 13 digits long, but mine is only 7 (story of my life!) and seemed to work.Beneficiary: Your first and last nameSort code: 23 02 95Bank account number: 00000001Reference: Your Manchester Building Society account number. Your account number is a 13-digit account number
Also spotted this in the welcome pack ..... implying that just the 7 numeric code is needed for the Reference (my substitution of red "n"s for obvious reasons!)
Can anyone confirm that this worked successfully?1 -
I'm the same. I hate having superfluous empty accounts lying around. I feel it's untidy and I like my finances to be as neat and tidy as possible. I have to resist the temptation to close accounts as soon as they are superfluous. In the past, the tendency to close unused accounts too quickly has caused me to miss out on loyalty opportunities. Once I decide to stop playing the RS game, I will have to do a deep clean of everything.clairec666 said:
(I should probably stop over-thinking this and just leaving the account open - I don't know why superfluous empty accounts annoy me so much!)1 -
Like many others, I had been waiting for this week- 22 Sep to 28 Sep, with so much anticipation. I had marked my calendar in three different places, so as not to forget. I thought I wont have enough or any money, when many fantastic new Regular Savers will be launched. So I sat and spent an hour doing cash flow analysis for the next two months, which RSs to withdraw money from, fishing out the product information and terms and condition documents.
So far, its been lack lustre. Just 1 modest new offering - Manchester BS @5.5%. The week is getting away & its already Wednesday. A fading hope that Friday might bring some awesome new offer like the jaw dropping 10% Exclusive RS we had with Virgin Money last year or 7% fixed from the ever so conservative 5 percenter HSBC!
Though it will leave just two working days in the month for an account to open and fund. If there are hiccups, it will push us well into next month.
Well, lets hope?

I fear yours is a forlorn hope.
Expend your effort (& money) on what's already on offer.0 -

Anyone's £50 RS restrictions cleared please yet?
Nope. Opened Saturday, passed the 'Mitek' verification straightaway and still waiting... I've been with YBS for a number of years and have quite a few savings accounts already, FWIW.And still stuck at the starting gates for this one. I did send YBS a message about not being able to deposit due to 'restrictions', to which YBS responded:"I have had a look into your account and it shows the account is going through some further checks.Under regulations for the prevention and detection of financial crime, we have a responsibility to verify the identity of each applicant before opening a new account, even existing customers."
