Late Christmas item delivery

Good morning.
I ordered a bedding set as an afterthought present for my son for Christmas on eBay coming from china but it is apparently out for delivery today.
Upon ordering the 22nd December was the date it should have been delivered.
Can I refuse the item and get a refund for being late as it's too late for Christmas.
Thank you

If the item arrives after the last ETA given for the order you may open a not as described return (according to the eBay Money Back Guarantee). In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces2

When was it actually ordered?
As coming from China would need to clear customs. So sender could only guesstimate a delivery date.Life in the slow lane2 -
If you refuse delivery the item will in all probability simply disappear into a black hole and you will never get a refund as the vendor (in China) hasn't received it back. You could try returning it under Distance Selling rules (whatever the official name is) but again you have the problem of it being a company in China.

Stick it in a drawer and it's an early purchase for next year. Or give it to him now. Seems a lot of bother otherwise.

I would suggest your expectations are too high and buying from abroad is not a good idea.1

yes you can return it for a refund but will in all probability have to return it to the seller ie to China
refusing it will mean you can't return it so no refund0
