Help needed - my 15year old wants a gaming pc

I would look directly at the PCSpecialst site as opposed to Curry’s who are reselling their product - one less chain in the link taking their cut
There are other companies available as well - Palicomp (as mentioned) Overclockers to name but 2 others0 -
Going off at a tangent, are Curry’s really that bad? My son has just bought a phone from them. It’s a phone, in a box, and it arrived on time. He’s thinking of returning it, and I guess that’s where things could start to get interesting! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Good point - the economies of scale do kick in.GDB2222 said:Going off at a tangent, are Curry’s really that bad? My son has just bought a phone from them. It’s a phone, in a box, and it arrived on time. He’s thinking of returning it, and I guess that’s where things could start to get interesting!
You really have to look at the % of transactions that are problematic as opposed to just the number of.
Personally, I’ve never had any issue with them but would still not recommend them to purchase a 3rd party PC from (if it can be avoided) - of course convenience could be a factor1 -
Currys is for people who aren't really sure what they're buying, so won't realise how much of a markup they're paying against alternatives from specialist retailers.
It's easy to compare the price of a specific model of phone on Currys with the exact same model somewhere else. For PCs where the specs themselves are difficult to compare, less so.0 -
I can recommend Palicomp - I bought a model that has been recommended as a best buy in Computeractive magazine for some time at £400. Not suggesting that model would be up to gaming but I suspect other models will be and price will likely be competitive. They were helpful on the phone.0
