Help needed - my 15year old wants a gaming pc

My son has been on about a gaming PC for years and he's been saving his money and had found the following in Currys.....
I have no idea about them and desperately don't want him to be disappointed. Could anyone give me any opinions on it? (I think he mainly plays Roblox and Fortnite)

PCSPECIALIST Icon 240 Gaming PC - AMD Ryzen 5, RTX 4060, 1 TB SSD

MSI G24C4 E2 Full HD 24" Curved VA Gaming Monitor - Black

    What's your budget?

For the benefit of future readers I presume its this, for £899.

Roblox doesn't need anything fantastic, it'll run on pretty much anything.
Fortnite requires a bit of power behind it.

The RTX4060 is already 18 months old and is dropping down the Toms Hardware hierarchy list though is seen by them as one of the better value cards.

found the following in Currys -

Avoid Currys, it'll be overpriced junk with zero after-sales support. This from Amazon would be fine for Fortnite -
    ADMI Gaming PC • AMD Ryzen 5 5500 • NVIDIA RTX 3050 6GB DDR6 • 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 • 1TB NVME SSD • 500W PSU Bronze Rated • X= Mesh White RGB Gaming Case • WiFi • Windows 11 : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
  • He's got just under £1000

Anything else or any where else you could recommend Victor?
  • I'm also not a fan of Curry's, based on a few bad experiences with them, as well as they lost some of my personal information in a data breach a few years back.

The PC itself looks a bit overpriced to me - 16 GB DDR4, only 1 TB storage (PCIE 3), AM4 socket. RTX 4060 itself is a decent card, and should be fine for Roblox/Fortnite, but there are better price-to-performance options available, especially if you build the PC yourself. Possibly a good opportunity for your son to start learning about PC building?
  • Can anyone recommend someone who could build one? We're in the Suffolk/Essex area?

He's been told he needs something around 4060, and the one on Amazon is less?

I usually buy my pcs from Dell (www.dell.co.uk) - I know nothing about gaming pcs though but maybe someone can recommend one from the Dell site?

Would he be willing to follow a YouTube video and build one? I built my first PC at 12 and did it following a step by step guide in magazines, now with online videos and guides it is incredibly easy.

If I were going to buy I might consider Overclockers or CyberPower, I would rather never game again than buy from Currys. I agree with others, I think the 4060 is a bad idea, the 4060 Ti or 4070 Super would be a far better choice. However the 5000 series cards will be releases in a couple of months which means that the 4000 series will drop in price, probably substantially, I would be waiting for that rather than buying now.

They have the Alienware range, but I think they are overpriced and tend to cheap out on 3rd party cards.

Someone like Palicomp can build you a gaming PC. The have pre-configured exampled which you can further customise yourself.

They have been around for a fair while and have used them in the past when I couldn't be bothered to assemble them myself any more.

Example of a similar spec to the Amazon one for £499.99 is https://www.palicomp.co.uk/amd-gamer-spe1
