PCN issued - but I had paid!

Two things to check, are you sure the reg was entered correctly? And are you sure the ticket you purchased was valid for the bay you parked in (long stay/short stay etc)?1

Presumably it has a part of, or all of , the VRM details below where it says Paid £3.40 ? On the paid for ticket ?
Incorrect or missing VRM details are common reasons why paid for parking doesn't compute with ANPR pictures, or the wrong VRM details are used from pictures, or its humanerroror PDT machine error . Either way, it's clear that the parking company have not atrributed the paid for ticket to the VRM details, hence the pcn for non payment
Appeal stating that the driver complied with the signs and paid in full, adding that a copy of the paid for ticket is attached and to cancel the pcn
You would think that they would cancel, but it wouldn't surprise me if they said that it's a keying error, or that visitors should use Ringo . Yes the signs do seem contradictory , typical in the private parking industry
My golden rule is to never enter a car park where an IPC AOS member operates, BPA AOS members can be bad enough, but IPC members put Satan to shame4 -
In response to the above questions re: VRM number. The VRM appears to be correct, but i do have a ZERO in my VRM. It's possible i typed in letter 'O' instead of number '0'. I wouldn't have thought so though. Either way, according to MSE these are minor errors which should/must result in cancellation of PCN. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2020/01/drivers-who-enter-wrong-numberplate-could-be-spared-hefty-fines-/
It was suggested earlier in this thread that i don't name the driver as the PCN doesn't adhere to POFA. I have tried to get my head around POFA but i can't really see which aspects of my PCN don't comply. https://pcn-uk.co.uk/keeper-liability-and-pofa/
I read the NEWBIES thread but couldn't find an answer that fits my case.
Going on advice given in my last thread to not lie about who was driving or be difficult, in this instance i am assuming my best course of action is to appeal stating i am the keeper and to simply say that the driver complied with the signs and paid in full. (Attach copy of paid ticket). No need to state exactly who was driving at this stage.
Also, should i mention the hand-written sign?? It would seem to unnecessarily complicate things - after all, i have a ticket as proof i paid.

Read the current 2024 joint code of practice regarding possible minor keying errors2 -
I won't mention a possible keying error in my initial appeal, as i don't believe i made one, but should this be brought up by them...
"These are minor errors where up to one character has been entered incorrectly, or where the registration has been entered in the wrong order. If a typing error such as this leads to a PCN being issued and the motorist appeals, the PCN must be cancelled at the first stage of appeal."
https://www.britishparking.co.uk/write/Documents/AOS/NEW Redesigned Documents/Version91.2.2024.pdf0 -
You're overthinking this. Send them a quick email (you're NOT appealing) simply telling them you paid, include a screenshot of your bank statement and invite them to take you to court if they they think they're hard enough.
All you can do is try and make them twig that a court claim would be futile. It might work, it might not.But don't engage in a fake appeals process because they will simply think "here's someone that might cave in if we throw £35 at a court claim".3 -

Well, the best option for me on their site was, "paid for parking but might have done a keying error'.
I've appealed now. I'll be back with the result.3 -
The result was positive.
They cancelled the PCN.
Would it be of use for future reference to post what i sent them or a brief summary?4
