Pay into LISA with a credit card?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a new credit card and I was just wondering if I can get this: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/best-credit-card-rewards/#topcards

(the £165 worth of points) and utilise the £3000 limit by paying into a LISA, then paying it off into full next month? That's the only way I can see myself getting to £3k in 3 months.

Thanks.

I've not come across a provider that will allow you to fund an investment account using a credit card. Debit card funding is quite common. You'd probably be better off posting in the credit cards forum about ways to spend without really spending.

You would need a money transfer card. This is a specialist type of credit card which allows you to withdraw your credit limit into your current account (usually for a fee) which you can then transfer to your LISA.

thanks for your reply but there's not point it seems as the only reason I was looking to get one of these credit cards was for the points on my spending, but at the same time, I've no plans to spend £3k or whatever just for the points.

Any suggestions on points cards I can use for grocery and day-to-day shopping that don't have any weird clauses like min £3k in 3 months etc?

Chase offers 1% cashback up to £1,500 spending per month. There are some other suggestions here: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/best-credit-card-rewards/

Find some other way of 'manufacturing' £3k of spend.

    Some ideas:
    • Purchase gift cards for the supermarkets you know you'll spend at
    • Pay your bills or other PayPoint 'stuff' at a Co-op Group store

do they let you pay council tax with  credit card? Got a £2.2k council tax due in a few months - could use it towards that if they let me :o

Depends on your council, but some do,
Others support PayPoint, which can be settled using a credit card at a Co-op Group food store (not a society like Central, Southern, Midcounties, Scotmid, Lincolnshire etc).

I've seen it reported that the same can be achieved using PayZone at Tesco Express stores which do it, but I would need more reports to be sure enough to recommend it.
