Conveyance vs Land Registry Title Plan

We're two months in to a rather slow purchase.  Our solicitor has told us that the Land Registry Title Plan does not match the original conveyance.  The conveyance seems to match reality on the ground but the title plan has a boundary which is significantly shorter. The discrepancy is around 4m.

This has been reported back to the seller's conveyancer and, apparently, to the Land Registry but more than a month has passed and nothing seems to have happened.

Does anyone have similar experiences?  How long is the process of fixing the issue likely to take?  Will it actually get fixed?  Or should we just give up and walk away?

I’m sorry to read of the issues you are facing and more than happy to check for an update if you share the title number involved?
A few general comments, which I hope you will read as trying to be helpful based on experience re such matters from a HMLR perspective. I’ll leave it for others to posts answers to your Qs based on their own understanding and experiences
There will be plenary of examples where this has happened but they will have negligible impact on your very specific property/purchase. Mistakes, if that’s what it is, can and do happen both in conveyancing/registration and/or how they are corrected will be based on merit.
If they’ve submitted a request to amend the title then a month is not that unusual but I suspect more is happening before any amendment can be made - for example if the 4m of land is registered to someone else we can’t just take it away from them without consultation for example
It can always be ‘fixed’ but how will depend solely on the specific details and not any deliberations on our (MSE) part
Whether you ‘ give up and walk away’ is for you and your conveyancer to discuss and agree on. So many factors can influence that decision but hopefully as they’ve spotted the issue they’ve given you a good idea as to likely solution and how long it might take. If they haven’t then these are all Qs for them to answer
