Boxing Day "Sales"

What goes through peoples mind when they decide to "pop" out to go to the sales.

Drove past Cheshire Oaks twice today - once at ~ 10:30am and again at 14:30pm - both times the queue to get in is horrendous, backing up onto the M56 and causing traffic chaos.

Why do people bother or do they really have nothing better to do than sit in their car for an hour or two getting bored/stressed or are the bargains to be had really that good

Not been for a while but the savings to be had at Cheshire Oaks sales are substantial compared to the high street retail and sale prices.

Or the people that find it necessary to camp outside Next for their sale on boxing day (do they still open at 5am), there isn't a Next in my town anymore. It either closed or moved, I don't remember which.

I don't think I've ever been out on boxing, not to the sales anyway. I'm sure if there was anything I wanted, it can wait till I have to go out.

The local newspaper had photos of the queues outside of Next and Lush at 5am. They really must be mad to wait all night.

Strange - the news was saying that Next wasn't opening today for any business except on line.

Years back I always used to go to the Laura Ashley sales after Christmas and it was an absolute scrum.  But it was the only way I might be able to afford any of their nice stuff.  I would always go with my OH, I'd grab a few things and get in the queue for the changing room and he'd go and see what else was available/nice/my size.  And once I was able to try things on he'd be outside the door like my personal staff and would go and swap sizes, colours whatever.  He was so good at this people started to thing he was an actual staff member and order him to get them whatever.  Those that did actually work the changing room will willing to pass things out to him and back in because he was saving them a lot of running about.   All good fun really but I never came away with more than a couple of items, never having the need/money to waddle off with huge bags of stuff the way some would.

No need to go out. Plenty of offers in my inbox to look at at my leisure.
  • Who needs Boxing Day sales when you can start buying your Easter Eggs, local Coop was loading them on the shelves this morning....

The only post-Christmas sales I do are into the card shops to buy my special cards and wrapping paper for next year.
