Smart meter not updating deja vu!

The above thread when I posted last with the same issue that the smart gas meter was not updating.
EoN engineer came out and seemingly fixed out so from February 2024 to November 2024 started getting updated readings again.
I do recall the engineer saying the meter is communicating with head office and sometimes it takes a while to catch up.
However since November 2024 the reading has been stuck on 3159 despite giving smart and manual readings.
Anyone know what on earth is going on?

What is the reading on the meter itself?

Just guessing, but since two of the readings (marked manual, two weeks apart) are 3159, looks like the meter is no longe registering gas usage.1

As in my opening post the same thing happened at the start of the year and somehow the engineer got it working again and said head office said not to change the meter0 -

Yes you do have to report again a suspect meter.
They might be used to homes not using gas at all in milder weather - although most would still be hesting hot water - some would switch to electric only in summer to avoid pilot light waisting 100s kWhs - more than hot water use in worst cases.
And reporting suspect metering is a condition in general terms and conditions for most suppliers. Of at least those have read for myself of parents / sisters homes.
EOn Next T&Cs condition
1.3.6 You must tell us straight away if your Metering Equipment is damaged or stolen, stops working properly or if you think it has been tampered with.
And assuming using gas at the time the 2nd manual reading on Dec 3rd should have shown you were in a repeat situation - with a faulty meter.
I suspect they really should have replaced the meter last time. But that was their choice not yours.0 -
So the meter was replaced today with the engineer saying something about the battery had stopped working.
New meter is at 00000 from today.
So I asked him how would Eon calculate the gas used from the date the meter stopped working (17/11/2024) until today? He said something about they will base the missing months gas usage on how much I use on the new had meter for the following month and backdated accordingly.
Anyone know if this the common way to do things?0 -
The exact basis of estimation varies - they might copy last mild winters numbers for you at that address - or a long term average - or from their own estimation tools for similar properties if not.But some here have reported their firms estimates generally haven't been excessive in similar fault situations.0
