Gas smart meter giving wrong readings

Options
It has been a about 6 months now when my smart meters working so I gave manual readings.

About November time my gas meter stopped working so it was stuck on reading 02651.

So December I was unable to give a gas reading.

I looked again at the Gas meter on 12th January and it was still 02651.

13th Jan Eon Engineer came and stayed for about 20 minutes and he said he has got both meters working and they are both smart again and will give automatic readings.

But Feb smart  reading is still 02651

I dont understand what is going on, especially after the Eon Engineer said it was working fine?

Are you reading from the actual meter of the IHD toy on your worktop.

The actual meter could be outside on the floor or on the wall or inside in a cupboard
  • I am reading the actual meter reading.

The same meter which gave the "smart" reading to Eon.

Don't know why it is stuck on the same reading despite Eon giving that meter the all clear
  • It happened to me a few years ago. Local gas Co. eventually replaced/repaired the meter, and I had 6 months free gas.

A good outcome for you, but others should understand that it is not a right to get the gas free and the supplier is entitled to use an estimate to bill for the usage, so it is often in your best interest to continue to report the problem and get it fixed...

    Hi,

It sounds like the technician that came out fixed the lack of smartness without fixing the not working as a meter.  A bit like fixing the radio in a car where the engine is completely knackered.

I'd go back to Eon and point out that they need to replace the meter.

Well I am paying the same DD amount as I was when the Gas meter was working and currently £400 in credit.

Part of this credit is due to not paying for gas due to faulty meter but is also due to overpaying on my DD for last year at least.

Thanks for all the comments, them waving any gas bill for last few months will be a bonus.
