Hi there were are currently on the octopus tracker dec 23v1 tarrif which ends February.

Should we switch now to the oct 24 v1 tarrif or should we wait as i know a new teacker tarrif will be out next year but on google search prices are to raise by over 1% so i am thinking the 2025 tracker will be more than the 2024 October version.

I know if we switch now we will be paying more for 2 months but if the new tracker is more next year it will maybe be worth it

You need to make your own decision.
I'm on a similar position. My opinion is that the next two months are among the most expensive months of the year, as far as energy use is concerned, and I don't want to pass up the savintfeom the Dec 23 Tracker. Jan 25's Tracker might only be 1 or 2% more expensive than Oct 24, but it's a lot more expensive than Dec 23.

True though tbh Christmas last year for where i am was cheap as hell, electric was only 7p Christmas day and boxing day etc.

Its just if i wait till this runs out next year id be on the 2025s new version which will be more than October's and then ill be stuck with that for atleast a year so its a full year then of oaying more than octobers.

So for me i think its not worth it saving a bit rest of this month and sticking with the 2023 one.

No matter what it will cost more but trying to keep it as low as possible for longer so that for me means taking the October one before its too late.

I know its a tracker tarrif so it will often dip low anyway.

Ive messaged them back via the email they sent as my account shows only to swap to fixed or flexible and not another tracker version

So i think ive decided to switch to oct version before new dearer one comes out as like i said it will then be a year where im paying more for the sake of a few weeks of saving a bit per kw

I very much doubt there will be much difference between Oct 24 and Jan 25, but the decision is easier for me as Oct 24 looks too expensive compared to other options.

Ive looked at other options and all turn out more expensive than even octobers tariff. More so when i check it on the compare app

It really depends on your usage, but options like Scottishpower's Power Saver, or if you're brave, Tomato Energy's Lifestyle tariff could be worth exploring.

Don't do it. Stick to the current tracker.

Or maybe lock in a fix which will start after the tracker ends.

I did check the scottish power ones but seemed like you would have to mess about too much using electric certain times to try save etc and we just want to use what we use when we want.

When octopus does those events when you can save if you don't use certain amounts of electric between certain times....we either saved oennies or nothing because if we need to do washing and use the cooker we need to 😂

I checked the tomato one but while they claim good reviews all the bad ones state once you join....they never answer calls again lol.

Plus for some reason they state what could be a monthly price but no other details or price per kw or anything that i could find it just said to sign up

Fixed ones are way more expensive than even octobers tracker though when ive checked

When checked against a weeks usage the oct tracker comes out over £10 a week cheaper than the 12th month fixed

For Scottishpower, you can be on the standard tariff, sign up for Power Saver, and that gets you half price energy every Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm. That's more often than Tracker will drop near those levels, and is dependable.
With the new Tracker tariffs coming in only about 5-10% below SVT, if you use a reasonable amount of energy at the weekend then you'd save.
For Tomato, there are issues for sure, but I'm monitoring the thread on here and experiences are getting better. By mid-Feb I might just be convinced enough to give them a try. They give unit rates if you get a quote.
