Three network overcharge

Just discovered that 3 are charging us £37.75 for a SIM only. Rang them, and they say we signed a 2 year contract for a 100gb per month. We don't remember this at all. we thought we were still paying monthly, i.e., for the phone. We'd never use more than 2gb a month. They say there is  nothing we can do about it. Still another year to run. Robbing swines
Any suggestions?.

Start by going through your emails / letters from Three from a year ago to see if there's any order confirmations when this contract changed?

One year on, you only just realised the cost?

The money saving way is to use Smarty, GiffGaff, 1p, or similar “non contract” networks. You can change the data amount every month if you want as they are 30 day SIMs.

FWIW Smarty are £12/month for 100 GB data, 5GB is £6.

We thought we were still in contract for pay monthly that's why we contacted them to see when it ended. 
Got 80gb through O2 for £8pm, a deal through uswitch and doubled up from also being a virgin customer

SIM only, has nothing to do with paying for phone.

Many SIMS that are pay monthly are a fixed term contract.

We were on a pay monthly contract for a phone ÷ texts etc. 
Got the O2 deal through uswitch.
