And none of you can even blame me for last nights shananigans! :A

    Would we blame you? ;)

OK, time to come clean! :o

When I first started my debt journey, I never envisaged paying off my loan early. So, I worked out my balance from what it would be, paying it off over the full term and only deducting the loan amount each month and not the interest. So basically loan was for £25,000, montly payment £371.57, but only reducing the total by £297.62 (25,000 / 84 months).

Which, basically means, my loan is more than I have it down for which also means my debt is higher than what it is!

I've known this for ages and I feel like I've cheated myself but more importantly, I feel like I've cheated you guys! :(

And of course it throws all my calculations out the window! :(

Oh well SS, I cant comment as I only came clean about my £1100 overdraft last month!!! It was my guilty secret. I then fessed up and added it to my debt total, which made me feel awful as it hiked it up again, but its honest and truthful now. The good thing is you have opened up now and if you are like me, you will be even more determined to get rid of the 'extra' bit of debt you have just fessed up to. I tackled it head on and paid of £200 straight away which made me feel better.

    You haven't cheated anyone :naughty:

If I'm honest, I havent a clue exactly how much I owe. I get the awful feeling, after fees etc I owe more now than I did when I started this journey

    We still love ya :kisses3:

You've not cheated SS, don't beat yourself up. How many people have admitted their debt was higher than they first stated on here? Loads.

Can you not overpay it? How much does it put your calculations out by?

So you've taken the interest off linearly rather than exponentially. So? It only matters if you're going to pay it off early, and I don't see paying it off early as ever being a source of bad news.

  • I just feel like all the landmarks you guys have celebrated with me were false. And my records I've kept are wrong. The total amount I was in debt should be more.

And it adds about another £2,500 to the debt! :(
