Morning all, it was an awful night here with howling wind and hailstones, it's still ongoing and dark, need to put the kitchen lights on. DH had another bad nights sleep. I think he's so used to being busy and now he's not he keeps nodding off through the day.We didn't go for a little walk either yesterday, and unless it improves I don't think we will today,I'm worried his crutches will slip on the dead leaves.I've got a pork fillet out for later, and I made some creme brulee for dessert, just need to put the topping on and scorch with the little blow torch. I also have my Christmas order coming this afternoon.Your cake sounds delicious Mehefin. Hope Scooby is ok.I really hope LO stays stable @dp1 , she deserves a lovely time.I feel for those of you who have lost someone close, it's not a good time of year for many.(((Hugs))):heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. SILVER OLDIE it's hard enough facing Christmas without a much loved DH but without the support of your family it must be doubly hard. I didn't know how I was going to get through it but with the support of my family I did, My heart really does go out to you. They say Christmas can be the loneliest time of the year and that is so true for a lot of people. Much love to you x
Take care all, stay safe xx
Thank you TA. I keep telling myself it's just another day. I don't understand why people intentionally hurt others, my Ds must know what he's doing
AA hope your Mum's okay and feels better soon
Cold but not raining so I might have a walk later.
Take care

Morning All
Very windy here rain overnight but no snow.
We collected our friend from hospital yesterday he is very happy to be out but very tired. He had enough meds to restock the pharmacy so we take each day as it comes.
I braved the sm once we got back and was quite surprised that it wasn't mayhem.
I need to pop out later to get a birthday gift for DH for tomorrow and some red wine for Boxing day as we will have friends round but otherwise I'm done.
AA hope Dmum is feeling OK after her fall as others have said it would have been a shock for you both.
TA glad you are starting to recover but take it steady.
DP1 your LO has done so well with all she has coped with this year I hope you all have a wonderful time and she stays well.
SO sending you loving hugs, this time of year is always hard for those who have lost but know all of your friends on here will be thinking of you and others.
Sending hugs to all who want them, keep safe, dry and warm.

Morning! Well that's a bit windy out there isn't it? We have to put the shed base together in a bit and work out how much gravel to put in it and then either fetch the gravel or order the gravel. I'm making sausage rolls and mince pies today because if the weather is ok tomorrow, OHs stepdad is coming to help make the shed [ I'm kind of bowing out from doing that for a change, normally I'd be right in there with my drill and hammer] and then I need something to offer them. I'm not sure what I'm cooking today, I may take a lasagna out of the freezer for tonight..I know that advertising will have you believe everyone else is having a fantastic time and indulging in this that and the other and generally having a non stop party, but no one's Christmas is like that [ not even mine and I would like it to be, but unfortunately, no one else around me except my cousin in Wales actually likes it, including my OH] so however your Christmas is, that's how it is. You won't be alone in being alone, or not having a great time, or being sad. There will be someone somewhere in the same boat. My trick is to determinedly ignore anything negative for the next few days and enjoy myself regardless. It's like putting on upbeat music when you're not feeling top notch as my friend once told me to do, I pooh poohed the idea, I tried it, it's quite difficult to be down when the Blues Brothers [or whoever] are bouncing the upbeats. But that's my trick...And just think, in a few days time it'll be back to being gloomy and then interminable January, so might as well find something enjoyabe before that starts
Allie, I bet that was a shock, glad you patched her up as well as possible, I'm not surprised you didn't sleep after that. The tractor un sounds like fun though, hope it goes off swimmingly. Izzy, you made me laugh with loud but fun, and get you, gallivanting on school nights
well done for keeping up the pace! dp1, fingers crossed she sails through. TA, you hang on to that trolley then, waggy finger...shame you can't sit in that bit in the front
Rosy, yeah it's a worry, hope the weather is better for you today. Take care all, do what makes you happy or at least not unhappy....

Morning all, it's dry but cold and showers are on the way for today. I had to go to bed for a lie down yesterday and fell asleep for 2 hrs, I think I had concussion from my bumps as I also walked into an open top kitchen cupboard door 😂
I have some dry washing to put away and a last minute present to wrap for DGD which DD dropped off yesterday afternoon. I think then it will be time to put my feet up and watch some xmassy films. No idea as to what to have for tea tonight, the freezers are full so there's plenty to choose from.
Mr Fix It and I are having xmas lunch without Dad this year as he can't get up or down our steps, it will feel strange as he and my late Mum have been coming to us for many years. Instead he's going to DD's as it's on the flat, we'll then join them for tea later.
AA hope your DMum is ok .
Izzy 3 nights out, no wonder you're shattered. Glad you enjoyed the show.
Camelot I hope you are taking it easy now that school has finished for the holidays.
NRA glad your friend is home and happy birthday to your DH for tomorrow.
dp1 fingers crossed little one can stay well and really enjoy xmas. Hope Santa comes for her too with lots of toys 🎅
Hope everyone who is braving the shops get everything they need and without too much fighting 💪
Extra hugs for Gers, Silver Oldie and YorksLass plus anyone who will be alone or missing their loved ones this xmas.
taff many thanks for the songs and carols, they cheer me up.
Take care all, stay safe and look after yourselves.

Morning all. Last night the gusty winds continued and I could hear icy rain on the windows. Not much better today as the wind is still with us and the forecast sleet is alternating with snow. It feels very chilly too so I'm glad I'm not going anywhere today.
On that note, I was surprised by my latest energy statement. I've had the heating on a lot this last month so gas consumption was up, as expected, but electricity was down quite a bit. One balanced out the other so the total bill wasn't much more than last month and I've still a decent credit balance left. Now, if only we could get rid of the standing charges .....
On the cards today is a mince pie making session and I'll finish off the last of the fresh veg with tonight's dinner. Whilst not looking forward to tomorrow's shopping foray, at least there'll be room in the fridge for replacements - I just need to make a list first. DS is picking up pigs in blankets from the butchers - he says that's his "must" on the plate. This afternoon I'll be giving my feet a treat with a DIY pedicure; other than that, it's going to be a lazy day.
Happy new hair colour @TA and good luck at the SM.
@AA - So sorry to hear your DM had a fall, it's such a worry as our parents get older. Good thinking on the red vet-wrap!
@dp1 - Fingers crossed LO can enjoy her week, it sounds like a busy and exciting schedule for her.
Would you believe it - the snow has stopped, the sun is out and the sky is a bright blue! I'm still not going out though!
Hugs for the poorlies and lonely, take care if you're going to be out and about. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all
Dry here and the sun is out but it’s quite cold, I would love a bit of snow for Christmas.
Yesterday I went and got my nails sorted thank goodness but once home I started to feel more ropey 🤢 I ended up with a D&V bug and spent most of the day in bed, I had to let my nail lady know but I hope she will be ok, I was in bed before 6 last night and slept off and on all night and I do feel better this morning which is good as I have a lot of cleaning to be done I need to finish the kitchen and do the lounge and study, dd will do the bathroom and bedrooms and OH will do the conservatory garden and put the new blind up in the bathroom, it shouldn’t take too long between us, tomorrow mum and I are going shopping and then we will be done, I like to do the veg etc on Christmas Eve and then be on the sofa with a glass of something lovely by the afternoon.
SO sending you lots of love and hugs, I don’t know where you are in the country but you would be very welcome here for Christmas xxx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -

Hi again folks. I survived my little excursion to Sainsbobs and it felt lovely to be in among real people again! We got there about 9.30 in readiness for browsing time so by the time the tills opened I was ready for off - sadly DS wasn't as he needed a lot more than me! So I shadowed him round and we got in adjoining queues together. The trouble was I was going down the same aisles a second time and temptations I had ignored first time down ended up in my trolly! Oh well I have over half a stone to put back on that the infection took off me!
It took us ages to get out of the car park and meanwhile there were irate shoppers getting in the way whilst they were driving round and round looking for a possible parking space! I'm glad that's over and done with. Tomorrow, hopefully, I might feel up to a bit of neglected cleaning but, meanwhile, this afternoon my feet are going up and staying up for the rest of the day.
AA I hope there are no after effects from your DM's tumble, keep an eye on her. SILVER if I remember rightly it's your DIL that rules the roost so maybe your DS just does as he is told for the sake of peace, as cruel as it is. Once again take care all stay safe and good luck to anyone braving the shops! xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Yes , I do think it's Dil who's boss, but I just think my DS could send me a message. It would mean so much just to know he's remembered me.
As you say I suppose he just wants a quiet life.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.9
