Child lost and expired passport

I applied for an adults passport and they sent me message saying to report my passport lost. So do I need to report the passport I had as a child lost? It expired about 20 years ago and I don't have it anymore. Will they also carry on with my application for my new passport once I report my old one lost.

If you've previously held a passport then it's not your first passport application. HMPO have told you what's required in order to proceed.

As eDicky says, report it lost as they said to do.
