Company sent out a duplicate order after initial parcel went missing - now both have turned up

Hi,
Looking for some advice. I ordered a Christmas present from an online beauty retailer which said it would take 3-5 working days, it was due to be delivered by Evri. When it hadn't turned up after 10 days I contacted the company I bought it from, who investigated and said that it had been lost in transit and they'd send a replacement by express delivery.
A few days later the 'lost' parcel arrived, and then another few days later the replacement also arrived so I now have both. Should I contact the company to tell them, or should I keep my mouth shut and keep both? It cost about £100 so I don't want them to suddenly charge me for the second one.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

As an online retailer who suffers a lot of this I am grateful to all my honest customers.
Do the right thing and let them know.
Personally I block dishonest people.11 -
Do you really need to ask? The retailer has done the right thing and you are asking if it's ok to deprive them of their property?9

You know the answer to this question.4

Exactly the same thing happened to us, an interesting tale.
My husband ordered a pair of earrings for my birthday from QVC. They didn’t turn up for my birthday so he contacted QVC. They sent a replacement and because they were concerned that I was disappointed for my birthday they refunded the money to him.
Roll on a couple of weeks. A neighbour turned up with the original package, it had been delivered to them by mistake while they were on holiday. He immediately contacted QVC to let them know and they said keep it with their compliments. So 8 ended up with 2 pairs of earrings for free. I must have been psychic, I lost one earring while on holiday.
Obviously this sort of outcome would be unusual. As others have said, contact the company, you may very well be told to keep them both. Had my earrings been platinum and diamonds rather than silver and pretend diamonds I suspect they would have wanted them back.0 -

You call them - you tell them you have the extra parcel - you ask them how they'd like it returned that's of no cost to you - and see what they say. At a later stage - they'll likely see that tracking shows both items were eventually received - so better to resolve it now as a decent customer than wait for them to start chasing you over it.

Call them, at worst they tell you to send it back, at best they tell you that you can keep it and you therefore arent wondering who's knocking at your door or calling from a number you dont recognise for months0 -
So your question is simply this:
"Should I be dishonest? I don't want to have to pay for my dishonesty if I'm found out."
How does that sound when it's put like that?2 -
Given the number of times this crops up.
Perhaps @MSE_ForumTeam5would like to post this as a "Moral Dilemma" 🤷♀️

It’s likely they’ll realise and they have up to 6 years to chase you for the return of it or charge you.We regularity do audits on replacement orders. For some orders, we’ll send out replacements for damaged/faulty items before the original is returned and ask that customers return within 30 days. The audits will check if customers have actually returned and for supposedly missing orders, the original tracking will show it’s been delivered so will also come to light if customers have been dishonest.0

I wonder if they had charged you twice for an item, if you'd be happy that they kept your money.2
