Item not arrive within timescale - probably China - getting refund

I ordered an item with 7/12 days shipping. It was ordered on the 29th November and still not received.
Am told it is on its way and now stating 7/12 business days plus dispatch.
I need it for tomorrow so it is too late and have asked on the refund process.
The auto email says 72 hrs before response and website says return up to 14 days…..but not when that is from
is it £60 on a credit card so Probably won’t get till after I come back but then will send back……unless that is my cost and start the chasing
suggestions……is it one of these best to forget ones being it China?

What business did you buy it from?
If it is a UK business then the 14 days starts when you receive the item.
If it's an overseas business then I wouldn't send it back. It'll probably never arrive and then you'd be without goods and money.0 -
Chargeback with bank for non receipt (if Mastercard will have to wait 30 days from payment but if VISA you can do so now).In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

Do you have a link to the website?woodentom said:I ordered an item with 7/12 days shipping. Most of these far east companies will say something like its 20 days for dispatch and then 20 days for delivery. Most dont seem to realise these two have to be added together to get the realistic delivery timescales.
Presumably, if its still within the total delivery timescales stated on the website they would be able to successfully challenge a chargeback from VISAChargeback with bank for non receipt (if Mastercard will have to wait 30 days from payment but if VISA you can do so now).0 -
OP said "Am told it is on its way and now stating 7/12 business days plus dispatch" so if it's on the way after 12 business days OP can present that statement to the bank, it's then up to the retailer to defend if there is other information to the contrary I believe?DullGreyGuy said:

As mentioned, many people dont read websites properly and many of these far east companies have two timescales, one for dispatch and one for delivery and folks dont realise they have to add the two together; hence I asked for a link to have a ganders

If they've shipped already surely the dispatch period is academic? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
In some ways it is.

But lets not forget that no matter what a retailer say's delivery is at this time of year. Delays are to be expected. Especially getting through customs.Life in the slow lane0 -
No, we dont know what date they were told it was dispatched, could have been yesterday evening for all we know. The only date given was the date of purchase. Further information is required to know if it's actually running late or not.

Again genuinely not being argumentative but once it's shipped you wait 12 business days and then the time has passed.DullGreyGuy said:No, we dont know what date they were told it was dispatched, could have been yesterday evening for all we know. The only date given was the date of purchase.
If it hasn't been 12 business day since it was shipped then obviously you have to wait until such, but if the retailer shipped it sooner than stated it's still 7/12 business days so for an order stated as "7/12 business days plus [x days for] dispatch" that has shipped has a 12 business day window from the date of shipping after which the buyer can request a chargeback?
The thread title says it's late so I can only conclude it's been longer than 12 business days since dispatchDullGreyGuy said:Further information is required to know if it's actually running late or not.

but in terms of chargeback does the bank require longer at this time of year to allow for such? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
No timescales are the same all year.
But we all know very well that deliveries can take longer, so should allow retailer a bit more time.
The biggest thing I have noticed in the run up to christmas is a massive increase in sites claiming to be UK based, but have no addresses at all.
Shopify has a lot to answer for here, as the vast majority are using their platform & they really should make sure that any sellers are entering full contact details.Life in the slow lane1
