Living frugally in 2025......

I'm another Duolingo person - French mostly. That streak is addictive! If you use the app, you can also get extra lives by practising morning and evening (each gives you a bonus to use at the other end of the day, and I find a few minutes twice a day helps me).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Hello! Just been reading your diary and subscribed. I do like your list! The monthly 25 miles is a good idea - it sounds a lot when you read it but it's not that bad - I've been trying to up my walking. It's so healthy - plus free! And you've reminded me about Duolingo. I started the French course some time ago and stopped. Perhaps it's time I dusted off that little green owl icon for 2025......🤔..Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

@Cherryfudge I can see Duolingo being very addictive lol!
@jwil absolutely horrendous nights sleep. I'm getting really fed up with it now.....The shoes are fab, I'll have to work out how to post a photo of them. Love a chazzer shop bargain!
@Seasidegal58 I love a list, and I love the idea of 25 in 2025 but not sure if I'll come up with 25 meaningful ones, but will try. Ohhhh come join us on Duolingo we can practice on here!2 -
Evening all
how is it Saturday night already, and I'm back at work on Monday. This time off has gone so fast.....
A lovely quiet, peaceful day at home today. A friend came for coffee and a mince pie this morning, we've been trying out all of the supermarket mince pies, Aldi are still my favourite ones. I'd happily eat them all year round!!
Then I've been practicing my French on Duolingo. I was going to go a walk, but it was really cold, damp and grey earlier so I decided to give it a miss. I'm annoyed with myself now and wished I'd have gone. So note to self, next time I think I can't be bothered, make myself go out. I'll only regret it if I don't.
A no spend day, which is desperately needed after my spendy day at Dunelm. Not even looking how many days it is til January pay day!
Right, I'm determined to have a good nights sleep tonight, so I'm signing off and not going to touch my phone or laptop until tomorrow......3 -

I started the above thread ages ago for people to discuss free language learning. It's a bit old and dusty now but there are some useful ideas contributed by a variety of people.
Someone tell me if that's the right form of 'toutes' please! Un mot impossible.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Just seen that Duolingo has a New Year's offer of 60% off... not very MS of me to mention it really as I've always coped with the free version, but at £3.99 a month I am tempted.
I'm liking the New Year's Resolutions, especially about becoming a more confident driver. As a non-driver but once again considering learning, that's such a positive way of looking at it, so thanks. It helps me feel more confident!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I’ve just gone for the Super Duolingo @Cherryfudge. You have to pay £47.99 for the year in advance so it works out at £3.99 a month though. In total it works out at less than £1 a week. Good to know I can still read French despite not using it for years 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

hello,
Been reading your diary over the last few days, you are doing amazingly well. I am liking the 25 things list. I drive most days for work, in our borough and still use goggle maps to get to places, I haven't driven on the motor way for a long time as Mr D drives on weekends etc, the thought of having to do so would be very stressful.
I will keep following you journey.

I hope you managed a better night's sleep I feel your pain with that one!
On those days where you really can't be bothered to go out, there are plenty of online walking workouts you can do at home which will help you get your steps up towards your challenge."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1
